Guest guest
My experience has been that such requests often result in EXTRA chemical use. You've probably seen this yourself. Ask someone to decrease their perfume/cologne load and the next time you see them, you'll notice that they actually increased it. Watch how much pesticide your neighbors apply next time you see them out spraying. I'll bet it will have increased. Humans are interesting creatures. -

Guest guest
No tests for me either. I came to my understanding of Stachy by insisting that I was reactive to a substance that created certain symptoms. I begged Drs for years to help me with this. It's even in my medical records that I was asking Dr Cheney and Dr to help me find out why mold was having this effect on me from the very beginning of the Incline Village CFS epidemic. But after all these years, not one doctor would help. In fact almost all insisted that such reactivity was absolutely impossible. So I hired someone at great expense to help me identify which mold it was and had the mycologist accompany me while I went around to various colonies I had located. When we disturbed a mold that knocked me flat, I said " That's the one " . It was Stachy. So I didn't hear about Stachy and decide to become hysterical. I responded to the sensation and discovered Stachy. Now that I knew the name I spent years fighting with hundreds of doctors, researchers, toxicologists, immunologists, mycologists, CFS doctors and researcher, allergists and all but a handful of humans about this response. I asked Dr to help me research this effect but he also told me that I was wrong. So I just got a sample and learned by controlled exposure to identify the feeling and devised an elaborate avoidance protocol. It was by employing some of the tricks I've learned that I was able to identify a spore plume in Dr Marinkovichs own reception room. Pretty amazing to go to the top mold guy and diagnose him with " Sick Reception Room " . But the truly amazing thing was that after a year of concerted avoidance of the mycotoxin response, my MCS abated. When I described this to Cythia of CIIN, she told me that Duehring had turned her attention to mycotoxins at the very last. I feel very fortunate that I followed up this lead before I was completely disabled. As I've described before on this board, I've offered this information to many of the most prominent CFS, MCS researchers over the last six years with only one significant response from a doctor. In 1998 I went to several CFS support groups and found people reeking of mold and told my story only to find that the very people suffering the most from these very mold specific complaints were more obstinate and contradictory than the doctors. Rather unfortunate for them, but that was their choice. -

So I apply this to the MCS and the molds - which is a challenge as these are in many buildings. Thus, I stay out of most of them and am extremely cautious entering a new one (one I am not familiar with) - I note that the molds can be " felt " - the air seems heavy and unpleasant - as if filled with fine particulate matter - and I cannot get a good breath. When I note this, on a day when I am being wise, I turn on my heels and do not go into the building/room. This goes for chemicals too. Recently, I have been unable to go to the dentist and eye doctor as a result of them being in sealed buildings where they are recirculating the chemicals they use daily, which are extremely noxious to me. If I expose myself to these I react with an inflammatory reaction, similar to arthritis, that lasts for weeks. I am learning. I appreciate the comments of and - as well as others - your experiences help us all to know what might work. Further, having an Environmental Medicine type doctor is helpful - even if they don't know everything we need them to know. I just found one in my area and it is like a breath of fresh air (pun intended) - his office even has lots of tiled floors, open windows and doors, with sea breeze coming through from two blocks away from Pacific Ocean. What a find! Thanks to , Jonathon, and all... PS You should write a book - I would buy it....
