Hey , :o)

When I went to Mexicali, I ate at the Mexican restaurant at the

Lucerne. The food was wonderful and quite reasonable. Mom and I got

a dinner and an appetizer each (not realizing how large the portions

were) with a diet soda for me and it was about $35. They have an

Italian and an International restaurant also. One thing to watch for

at the Mexican one...they'll bring you a bowl of salsa and some rolls

before your meal. The rolls are outstanding but that salsa is HOT!!!

Even my Mom, who will eat jalapenos out of the jar nearly couldn't eat

it. ;o)

As far as a heating pad...I took one but never used it. Others have

said it was their best friend during that time. ;o)

If you are alone, hook up with somebody on the van and go have fun. There is a Chinese restaurant (yes, Chinese) that is located in a strip shopping center (strip used in the real estate form and not the adult entertainment form some may identify with-haha). That restaurant is wonderful but they speak mostly Spanish there. I had a great meal there. All the gals who roade down in the van that day, went. Some were having the last supper and others of us who had received fills that day drank soupa! It was very good. Also, the restaurants at the Lucerne hotel are all nice, I have been in them all. The shopping is also nice near the hotel if you like to do that, too!

P.S. I did not take a heating pad, did not need one there nor have I ever used one since my surgery. Others swear by them for comfort. Personally, I don't like to put heat on incisions. I have no scientific background, but there is just something about adding heat to an open wound (even it is has a bandage over it) that in my mind creates a breeding ground for germs and infection. Laugh at me if you wish, but that's just me.

I LOVED my heating pad!! It was very soothing on my sore tummy. I used it in the hospital and when I got home. I highly recommend bringing one!! I had dinner at Lucerna, not sure which restaurant but the one with a wonderful steak! It was a excellent, in fact, if I remember right, I had a huge steak dinner, an awesome Tiramasu (sp?) cake, and coffee made in there little French roaster they bring to the table. MMMM MMMM Good!! Oh, and don't forget the bullion. I was stuck at the airport overnight due to weather and it would have been horrible to live on hot water there UGH Good luck with your surgery!
