In regards to your post about Bioplex, I am sorry about your experience our

sales rep.

I was basically posting the website address for anyone who had any protein

questions,

there is plenty of information and it helps a little with the " label game " of

protein products.

As far as the protein quality, we do carry a protein that is 90% pure - there is

nothing

else in the product except whey protein isolate ( no funny blends etc ), ash

(from the

drying process) and minerals.

As far as the cost are pricing is very comparable.. With the exception of the

Protein Isolate

(which is just a little more expensive than our WPC), your really getting what

you pay for.

All people are different and they are going to buy what they like, we are just

trying to give

people the most information before they buy.

If you have further questions please feel free to contact me via my email

address.

I have ordered protein from the protein factory several times and have always

been

very pleased with the quality of the product. I have also spoken numerous times

with

the owner, , about various issues and he is very well informed about his

products

and will gladly send you any certificates of analysis that you might want. They

offer by

far the most broad spectrum of different protein options and the fact that you

can custom

blend them makes it very convenient for specific needs.

The only downside is that shipping can take awhile if you live on the west coast

and their products come in bags rather than

plastic containers, but what you get is well worth it. I am also familiar with

Bioplex and

have spoke with one of their sales reps and he was basically clueless about his

products

and about various proteins in general. He spent half an hour trying to convince

me that

their whey protein concentrate had a higher percentage of protein than is

actually possible.

Their products are also more expensive and obviously not customizable but I have

no reason

to suspect their products aren't well manufactured. Another good company

offering a wide

variety of products is Kilosports, you can find them at www.kilosports.com. I am

not a sales rep

for anybody but worked at a store selling these products for years and dealt

with a wide

variety of companies and products.

Hope this helps.

Here is a useful protein website with great protein information. They produce

Hi,

We use Boost Breeze on our clear liquid diet. Patients tolerate it

well, love the taste and can buy it anywhere. I do, however, always

point out to them that it has only 8 gm of protein per 8 oz and when

their diets are advanced it is better to use a higher protein

supplement.

I think this is a great idea, I get asked for this information

frequently. If someone has some brand names already, I would be willing

to gather the nutritional information on the products I can locate in my

area. Do we want the ingredient list as well, or just the nutrition

label information?

Thanks,

The bariatric program that I collaborate with is looking to put

together a handy reference list of protein supplements (powders or

drinks) for their patients. They wood like specific brand names and

protein content. If anyone is willing to share suggestions, I will post

the list when completed.

I have a short list of protein supplements I am working on. I attached it

to this email. Let me know if it doesn't work. Remember, I am still

working on it.

This list is great! Does anyone have other supplements to add to it? What

if we put contact information for the companies or which stores regularly

sell the products?

I think it would be great for the patients to know where to look! Plus, we

live in a pretty rural area, so some may be ruled out right away.

Do any of you make a distinction between sources of protein, like whey or

soy or egg albumin or collagen? I have found that the best tasting products

to me are the collagen ones but that is a inferior protein source.....any

opinions?

Lots of these can be found at GNC. The Beneprotein is tolerated well by

many, but is hard to find. If you call the number listed under it, they

are good about mailing it quickly.

Try encouraging sensitive patients to choose whey protein isolate based drinks versus "whey protein concentrate" which can be up to 60% lactose, and can cause a problem in those with intolerance.

Unjury is coming out with a "clear liquid" type of supplement. I can't remember the flavor, but it's something like strawberry sherbet. I'm anxious to sample it.

I believe it is by syntrax. They also make Matrix, which comes in a yummy vanilla flavor. Can get either on bariatriceating.com or at vitamin shoppe, if those are around you.

I tried it, and unfortunately wasn't crazy about it. It is strawberry, but when you get it close to your mouth, you can really smell the protein in it, which I did not think would go over well w/ my pts.

My office uses Robard products. I personally love their bars and

typically eat one every morning for breakfast. My patients love their food as well. We carry almost all of their products

from bars, to puddings, to their entrees. The supplements are very versatile because

they can be used for both pre-op and post-op patients. I have had a lot of success with their

products when I use them for my medically supervised diet program. My post-op patients really like them

because they are high in protein and convenient. They have a good selection for all phases

of the post-op diet. Most of their

products are reasonably priced. Of course,

post-op patients can make several meals from one supplement.

Here is the link to their product catalog: http://www.robard.com/pdf/AHS-Products.pdf

If you contact the corporation, they will send you samples.

Hope this helps!
