Guest guest
It's awful losing hair. I have a bald spot on the top of my head that makes me feel like an old lady. I was hoping that the addition of Bhrt might help but not so far...although it's only been about 6 weeks. I also stopped taking DHEA which some believe is linked to hair loss. But have seen no improvement yet. Yikes..I'll be in a wig soon! BarbF In a message dated 7/5/2010 10:28:39 P.M. Guest guest
NAC is a precursor to glutathione and is considered an excellent way to increase it. Sherry, are you only taking 30mg of iodine a day? If so, you really might do better taking more. -- At 10:16 PM 7/5/2010, you wrote: >I've looked into glutathione, just because I know it's a powerful >antioxidant. Guest guest
But here is the issue I have with this. Cutler is the only one who promotes this thought. I have not read it anywhere else. He is not the end all and be all in the mercury field. As I told you I did not use his chelation protocol and did just fine. According to him I should be a neurological mess. Guest guest
I haven't been taking iodine and it is still happening. I am working my way through my supplements - not taking any of them and slowly adding back. So for me it isn't the iodine. Guest guest
Interesting. I'm planning on doing the same thing. I'm doing 3 things that cause detox; iodine, fulvic acid and diatomaceous earth (besides the companion nutrients and ALA) so I'll stop everything and then slowly add things back in once my hair stops falling out, in the event that the weight ganin/hair loss is due to detoxing. > > > > I have been having issues with losing hair but it is low estrogen & progesterone that I believe are causing my issues. Guest guest
I think in your case the stress maybe causing your hair loss. Have you ever thought about that? Single, unemployed, health issues, no insurance and whatever else maybe going on in your private life and if you have had any good kind of support system near home. I was seeing a shrink for about 8 years but because nobody would go to counseling with me nor did I have a support system. So I have moved into an enviromemt with other disabled people. I have a very nice place now that is easier for me to live at. No stairs, spacious rooms because all of the town houses are set up for wheel chair access.I've lived here now for 2 months. I'm still trying to settle in and but can't seem to kick the lonely feeling. I have 4 grown children that spread themselves out all over the US and living with them for 20 years and then all of a sudden I'm by myself again. I was married for 25 years and married at 19. Now I'm 47 and I really don't like being by myself but hanging in there.I truly believe that stress does not help our health at all. Guest guest
Hi , Though you have a valid point, emotional stress has a direct effect on the body's ballance, there can be many other causes for Sherry's symptoms as well. It really couldn't hurt for her to try to find out more about supplementation for legitimate medical issues like adrenal fatigue and hypothyroid. What's more, I am happilly married with a fantastic 2 year old daughter, employed, have a great support system of both friends and family and still have issues with my hair falling out and the inability to lose weight. I have hypothyroid and a prolactinoma. I hope you're able to settle in to your new home soon. With new places come new opportunities to meet people, make good friends and have a new support system. At 47 you're a spring chicken. This is your time. Guest guest
When your hair falls out in circular patches like coins – say the size of a quarter – it is definitely a stress related problem. I read about it years ago in my FIL’s medical magazines, then watched my brother go through it. Then one day about 10 years ago I was getting my hair cut, and my stylist, who has been cutting my hair for 26 years, asked, “So what are you so stressed about?” I had a bald patch on the top of my head that I had not noticed because it was hidden. He knew that that was definitely stress. It seems that all over loss is more hormone, thyroid, related, while specific bald patches is stress. Guest guest
I believe that cutlers way is the best way, but not the only way. ALA is a very powerful chelater, probably the most powerful, if you have mercury in your mouth it only makes sense not to do it. Cutler is the only one who promotes this thought. I have not read it anywhere else. He is not the end all and be all in the mercury field. Guest guest
okay, I have only been tested for ferritin levels once (near as I can tell), and that was Feb 10. My result was 34.0 and the ref range on the report was 5.0-148.00, so my doc put a check mark by the 34 indicating I was in range. Are you saying I should still be betwen 70-90 on that same range? Guest guest
IMO you are taking very low doses of everything and I wonder why? why not take iodine every day 50-100mg? most ppl take 3-5 grains of Armour (180==300mg). then you can add enough HC back in and you will feel 100% better. Guest guest
I'd definitely look at some kind of liver support like the Livatone then, the weight gain could be related to not being able to keep up with detoxing everything.LinnOn Jul 6, 2010, at 1:11 AM, lookonthebriteside wrote: Thanks, Michele. I could increase Armour as I have a bunch stockpiled. But I'm not sure it's the right thing to do. My thyroid was never terribly low functioning. I was last tested a little over a year ago, and my values were pretty good at 90 mg. I never had a weight problem prior to starting thyroid medication, even though I'm sure my hypothyroidism was undiagnosed for many years. One thing I know is that the weight gain is directly related to when I started on iodine. It happened very quickly after I started iodine and was otherwise unwarranted. I've even considered the possibility that I'm getting too much thyroid hormone/s and should try weaning off of Armour. I have a history of adrenal fatigue, and I'm not treating my adrenals right now (other than with sea salt). From what I understand, Armour can stress the adrenals, so I certainly wouldn't want to get too much. Sherry > > > > > > But assuming it is toxins, what can I do about it? Guest guest
How do you define "best". There isn't a way to do this. Everyone's body is different. He says no DMPS challenge yet I did one 2 times. He says no ALA w/ amalgam fillings. Yet I took it for 6 mos before removing them. He says take DMSA every 3 hours - I took it all at once at night. This is how my doctor's practice and many many others are doing it with their patients. Their patients are having success - or I know my doctor wouldn't use the protocol he uses. My other DO does IV chelation. I think as with all protocols we need to be careful in stating it is the best way to do something. Even with high dose iodine it isn't the best way to do things in all cases. I think stating that many have had good results with his protocol is a good way to state it. Just my humble opinion but I shy away from promoting anything as the best. So much! falls o ut that I'm stunned that I don't have bald spots.> > > > > > > > I was just wondering if anyone has any advice. I'm already going through a very rough time, but seeing my hair coming out constantly is causing additional stress for me, and I'm worried about the long term consequences of this.> > > > > > > > I should maybe mention that I don't have insurance, am unemployed and don't have the ability to do lab testing right now. Also, I've been taking what I believe to be about 30 mg of Lugol's (based on my dropper calibration) for 5 days in a row with 2 days off each week. I use at least 1.5 tsp of sea salt everyday, and 3000 mg vitamin C. I usually take all of the companion supplements as well. Also, I just did a "whole body" cleanse (kit by Enzymatic).> > > > > > > > Thank you,> > > > Sherry> > > >> > >> >>
Guest guest
Interesting, Donna. I've not heard that before...Mine is definitely from all over...No bald patches whatsoever, thank god Sherry > > > > > > I have been having issues with losing hair but it is low estrogen & progesterone that I believe are causing my issues. That may be the case for you as well. > > > > > > Do you consume good omega 3 fatty acids? That is a problem for me at times too. > > > > > > Unfortunately there are a lot of things that when imbalanced cause hair loss. I am still trying to fine tune my body to figure it out too. I used to have very thick hair and now it is not that way. It's frustrating - I understand. > > > > > > Steph > > > > > > > > > Hair Loss > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > I've been dealing with hair loss and deteriorating quality for several years. I've undergone treatment for hypothyroidism and adrenal fatigue. I still take 60-90 mg Armour, but discontinued hydrocortisone/HC for adreanal fatigue after I started iodine earlier this year because felt more relief with it than I ever did with HC. Given it's negative side effects and the good reaction I felt with iodine initially, I felt it was better to wean off of HC and did so a few months ago. > > > > > > When I first started iodine, I noticed that my hair, which had become frail and thin over the last year especially, seemed to improve in quality and was not falling out nearly as much. The only problem with iodine was that it caused quick weight gain for me.
