Well, I did it - I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on January 24th. I

know it is going to be hard work - but I am so excited to start a new

healthy life on the other side of this!

Thank you!

I haven't been posting much on here, but I have been reading now for a couple months and am very encouraged by all the success stories I have read here.

Hooray! So glad to hear the meeting went well and you are optimistic. It is

pretty amazing to eat after not being able to. Keep us posted.

HI ,

Dr. Dempsey is not God (my words, not yours), but as a top flight surgeon,

combined with such compassion for his patients, he is right up there.  Good

luck with your surgery and recovery. The world will soon be a better place for

you.

So excited for those of you about to have surgery. It's such a relief to be

" normal " again. Good luck.

Thank you. Now may I ask how long after surgery before you can walk normally

with little pain in your abs.. Does a week of relaxing and semi walking help the

recovery enough? I am curious since I am getting surgery on the 19th and I

start school on the 29th. katie in philadelphia.

, that is only 10 days?  You maybe tender still and I would not carry

heavy books or anything like that, check with your doctor first!  I was out of

work for 2 weeks and still had to be careful lifting anything for at least a

month.  You want to heal well, and not mess up this surgery!  Best of luck!

I was up and walking the same day...within a few hours.  They recommend going

walking to help get the gas out of your system, otherwise you'll have gas pains

in your shoulder.  I walked the next day and was moving like nothing was

wrong.  Of course you don't want to lift too much...my Dr. said 10lbs. was the

limit.  A gallon of milk weighs ~8lbs.  I pushed on some days and did lift up

to 30, but don't recommend it.  There wasn't a day I was 'down and out', laying

in bed, or anything like that.  I was fortunate.

I never had pain from the incisions at all.  I had my surgery on Aug. 3 and

could have returned to work last week, but stayed home to deal with the

spasms.  I'm going back Monday the 15th.

Good luck!

- I was out of work for a week but off painkillers in 4 days. I was tired

for about 2 weeks, just kind of drained, but it didn't seem to bother me to walk

a little here and there. (I'm early 30s if that matters) Most of my pain was in

my shoulder area.

I have read by several people that they are drained for awhile. I am really

getting worked up about the surgery and I am really worrying about right after

the surgery and how I am going to feel.
