Guest guest
I guess I am a "newbie". My surgery was Feb 18th with Dr. A. I am doing great!! I have lost 30 lbs already (12 of which was pre-op diet). I have gone down a size in pants already too. Tomorrow I move to Phase 3- which is pureed foods and I am very excited! I do not have any nausea or gas issues really. I will say that the biggest thing for me so far is the mental and emotional issues. I do not see any of the changes really when I look in the mirror but I do feel changes mentally. I have been more testy and moody. I am sticking up for myself more, which is surprising others some. I am tired of dealing with stuff because I felt I had to- now I realize that I deserve more. All of that does cause me some issues because I don't mean to be cranky but it happens. So I guess I had found more of the mental issues that comes with surgery on my research because I have been surprised the last couple weeks. Some in good and bad ways. I am interested in hearing how everyone else is doing...share away!!! "Enjoy your body: use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or what other people think of it; it's the greatest instrument you'll ever own." Guest guest
, Congratulations! You are doing terrific. You will SO love " stage 3 " ! That first taste of something more substantial will be like heaven, even if you CAN only get down 3 tiny bites! LOL! Emotions: I think it is interesting that you brought this up and it is " under " discussed. I think there are a number of factors at work (JMHO). One – hormones are stored in fat in our bodies. As we lose weight, these hormones are released back into our system and can cause us issues. I personally had less of an issue with this only because I am on very strong anti-depressants and that tends to even out my moods. But even " through " those drugs, I experienced some very " low " days at the beginning of my journey that I attribute to the hormonal release. Second – I spent the last 10 years hiding from the rest of the world because I was so unhappy with my weight. Once it started coming off, I felt so much better physically and I started to (gasp!) LIKE myself again! This newly found feeling of self-worth led me to take better care of myself in other ways, such as standing up for myself, being more out-going, etc. If you truly think you are " being bitchy " maybe it's the release of the hormones talking and not you. But don't confuse " bitchy " with " assertive " or just plain taking care of yourself. You have done an amazing thing for yourself by taking control of your health; you deserve to be number one in your life. We are all proud of you and here to support you on your journey. Many ((((hugs)))) to you! Cheryl*
