Guest guest
She doesn't seem to be doing very much exercise. She probably needs to increase frequency, intensity, and duration, as well as start weight lifting to build up muscle - more metabolic tissue. She is eating 1000-1200 cals per day, adequate protein of at least 60g most days, exercising about 20-30 minutes 3 times per week. What do some of you do to get weight loss started again? My surgeon suggested the pre-op liquid diet to jumpstart the process but I'm not sure that's appropriate. Any advice? Guest guest
Honestly, I have stopped calculating it as I am so used to it being available from the metabolic cart study, I think for your calculations you should use Ireton as I am undert the impression that it is the most accurate in morbidly obese...maybe a thing to ask the rest of the group, for that I would use their current weight and for overall needs factor in the activity. I am sure this is not helpful but again I am not longer doing this so I don't have the answers. probiotic supplements> > > > > > > > I generally use probiotics during the pre and post, and was wondering if anyone is aware of a otc powder or liquid (not food source) that is easy to find. Guest guest
We don't have a cart either but either ways 1000 kcals daily should result in wt loss. This pt may be under reporting her intake. I would ask for a detailed food record and recommend increasing her exercise to daily. 20 min 3x per wk is not enough. The 2005 USDA guidelines are 60 min daily for wt loss. Guest guest
Thanks , I agree. I have asked her for detailed food records and we have discussed the exercise. On a different note, do any of you use Robard's products for VLCD or for pre-op diets? Guest guest
is Robards the same at Smart Forme? If so then yes. Many patients like their supplements. If this is for the same pt I too would be hesistant to recommend a liquid diet to a band pt. Liquids can be so unsatisfying for them. I always push SOLID pro and veg. good luck! > > > > > > > > > , > > > > > > Solgar makes a powdered acidophilus product. > > > > > > > > > > > > BariatricNutritionD <mailto:%40> ietitians > > > From: jenniferangus76@ > > > Date: Thu, 30 Apr 2009 16:50:03 +0000 > > > Subject: probiotic supplements > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I generally use probiotics during the pre and post, and was wondering if anyone is aware of a otc powder or liquid (not food source) that is easy to find. Guest guest
Hi Danae, Oh I just have to say this! WE TOLD YOU SO. LOL. We have all been down your road and some of us just at different times. So if you hit another stall place in your weight loss. Keep doing what you are doing. Stuff like this happens. Guest guest
Well I'm happy to say I lost 1.5 pounds yesterday. My weight was just hanging on but I seem to have broken through with my apple day two days ago. Also I traveled last week to Washington DC to do a symposium with Ralph Nader and was severly dehydrated when I got home. Now it appears I'm losing again. I understand that I did not have alot of weight to lose but at 5' 5 " tall getting down to 125 is certainly not that thin. It's completely average. I've always been fastidious about my weight but now that I'm on television as a consumer advocate all the time and my suits don't fit it was getting expensive trying to keep up with my weight gain. My problem is that once I hit menopause I began gaining weight even on a 1100 calorie a day diet. I was fit to be tied. Just less one month ago I weighed 127.5 and today I'm at 128.5 and now my pants are beginning to fit again. I appreciate your support and hope that you all understand that I'm not that thin. I can post photos if there are any questions! > > > > how tall are you and what is your bmi, maybe your body is at a healthy wt and > >if > > > > i was you i'd want to tell me to shut up and mind my own business, but the > > closer you are to your goal the harder it is, i am starting a round of > > injections this coming week, i am 54 years old, up until i started my current > > > job i weighed 96 pounds and maintained around that area for approx 3 yrs, now > > before you freak, i am 4'7 " , so that is within my normal, then i went into > > menopause and started working nightshift and i put on 20-25 pounds and did it > > quickly within 4 months, i started my 1st round at 118, i am currently at 108 > > and am pretty much holding steady, i am in phase 4, i only did 15 days due to > >my > > > > bottle of drops falling and breaking, my goal wt was 105 which i did reach but > > > my body was still losing and i didn't feel hungry at all, my bmi is still a > > little over 25 which i do not like, so i am doing a short round to finish it > > off, when i start feeling my body tell me it's enough i'll up my calories, and > > > continue with the injections and diet for the full 23 days, i have no idea what > > > > to expect on this round, you may be telling me the same thing in 2 wks and > > that's ok, do it, good luck and hang in there, i have a feeling it will start > >to > > > > go back down in a short time, good luck. > > >
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I have hit the biggest stall in my weight loss. I have lost just over 100lbs since Sept 28/10 and I am starting to get frustrated. I do Zumba twice a week and a muscle sculpt class once a week. I have been monitoring what I eat on daily plate and I am under 800 calories a day but then when you add in my exercise on those days that I am workign out my calorie intake is much less. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. I am wanting to lose 15lbs before April 29 when we go to Florida to visit Walt Disney World. It has been my goal for so long and I am just afraid I won't make it. Thanks
Guest guest
You might want to add more calories. Also if your still relying on Protein shakes, I would cut them out and replace with lean protein.Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®From: "" <movie_mommy@...>Sender: Date: Sat, 12 Mar 2011 02:58:20 -0000< >Reply Subject: Plateau Hi Everyone, I have hit the biggest stall in my weight loss. Guest guest
Re: Plateau How long of a stall are you talking about? Is it weeks or months? You do not mention how much more weight you need to lose. Are these the last 15 lbs you need to lose? It sounds to me like you have changed both your eating habits and your exercise habits too. This is an awesome awesome accomplishment that will get you to where you want to be sooner or later. That is the key in my eyes and you have done it for over 6 months, a BIG pat on the back, clap and hugs for that. 100lbs is a lot of weight ( I know I do not have to tell you) I bet you feel wonderful! I know I really loved it when I hit that 100 mark and the difference of not having them on me made was incredible. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get there! You cannot not do it. Try changing things a bit but if you continue to stick to the 800 cal a day and exercising you will continue to lose. Keep focused I know stalls like this one is what got me sidetracked when I was dieting ithout the
Guest guest
Hi, I agree, sometimes we just need to change things around. Try tracking what you are eating. You might find out by witting it down that you are over the 800 calories each day. And the closer you get to your goal the harder it is to drop those pounds. So you have to bump up the exercise sometime. Hang in there I had my times in my weight loss that I would stall. I think my longest was 9 days. Hugs, Suzanne In a message dated 4/12/2011 7:07:03 P.M.
