Guest guest
Hi Keela, Everyone is different and all bodies are different. First of all, you are doing fantastic! Your body is still adapting from from surgery; it's catching up. Stalls are common, be persistent and continue doing what you are, the weight will come off! I average about the same amount of calories per day and exercise only 4 times per week (I bike 10k) however, that is due to my health condition unrelated to the surgery. Make sure you drink enough water. Great job! Lise > > > Okay so I know all of you have experienced stalls but I just wanted to make sure that what I am going through is normal. I followed my post-op diet just as I was told, I take my nexium daily and have not had any issues at all with heartburn/reflux, I have about 80 grams of protein a day, about 800 calories but then I walk twice a day (about 4 miles total) and burn about 300 of those calories. I feel great, have not had any complications what so ever. In the first 2 weeks I lost about 22 lbs. Now, 7 weeks later my total loss is only about 25 lbs. I know that is a lot of weight in a 7 weeks period but I am just worried because it seems like it is stopping. I have not lost a single pound in 2 weeks, even with me working out 2 times a day. A few weeks back I gained 5 pounds in 1 day, then it took me almost a week to get those 5 pounds back off. I am not understanding what is going on with my body. Nor do I understand why I gained weight. Shouldn't I be losing? I guess I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this and if so, at what point did the weight start to come off again? > > I lost 22 pounds in the first 2 weeks, then it has taken me 5 more weeks after that to lose 3 pounds.... is this normal? > > Thanks! > > Keela >
Guest guest
Everybody goes through this, so it's completely normal. I lost 2 pounds a day at first and thought this is going to be a breeze. Then after losing 12 pounds, I stalled slightly and thought it was just me and I paid all this money and went through surgery just to lose 12 pounds?!!! EVERYONE has this happen and everyone thinks it's something they're doing wrong, or it's not going to work for them, and all the other negatives. Your body is still undergoing major transformation, so keep doing everything you're doing now and you'll start losing again. Sometimes you're not eating enough so the body hangs onto what you have until it knows it's ok to let it go. Try adding another small meal in the afternoon, just a little something more, and see if that doesn't get you back on track. If you eat too little, you won't lose. Your metabolism is re-setting; gotta give it time to do that. > > > Okay so I know all of you have experienced stalls but I just wanted to make sure that what I am going through is normal. Guest guest
Hi Keela, Good job on your success thus far. And I personally commend you on your drive. Something you might consider, if you are walking twice a day every day...try increasing the intensity of your walk 3 times a week and drop the second walk on those days. Also, trying some lower extremity weight training, this will help with the muscle you are losing with cardio only. Remember, protein converts to glucose for usage much easier than fat tissue. So, even though, we are consuming our protein, cardio alone does not protect muscle tissue from being utilized. Keep up the good work. Guest guest
Thanks you guys for all the great advice. I am so happy to report that I dropped 6 lbs over the weekend. So my total loss is 31 lbs in 7 weeks. I am hoping to lose 9 more lbs before next week which will be my 2 month mark and put me at a 40 lb loss but I am not going to kill myself trying to reach that goal. Anyhow, I just need to remind myself when I have these stalls that I need to be patient. I guess after failing with the Lap Band I sometimes fear that I will fail with the sleeve too. I need to stop my brain from thinking those crazy thoughts. LOL Thanks again you guys! Guest guest
GREAT JOB!!!!! Don't forget, the band and the sleeve are still very different. You got a do-over, and you will not fail. Kudos to you From: Keela McMillian <kekerene@...>Subject: Weight loss is slower than I thought Date: Thursday, August 11, 2011, 1:46 PM Okay so I know all of you have experienced stalls but I just wanted to make sure that what I am going through is normal.
