I was sleeved on June 27th 2008 and was like you and followed each and every writing to see what was happening and how everyone was doing. I can only say that the first two weeks are the hardest throughout this journey and that I feel better than I have in years!

I suffered from hypoglycemia - and when I didn't have anything in my stomach, I would get terrible headaches, the shakes and feel horrible. Since this surgery, I no longer have any hunger related headaches, shakes, or feelings of low blood sugar. I no longer have those painful gnawing hunger pangs that cause one to just stuff anything in your mouth to get the grumbling and pain to stop. I did have some hunger pangs in the first two weeks and the clear broth, jello, and popscicles did help. With clear liquid....it seems to not completely take away the hunger for longer than a few hours. Once I got to the thicker liquids, I drank the Premeir shakes from Costco - 160 calories, 30 grams protein, and low sugar, low carbs, low fat and they are wonderful. I still drink a cold one every morning to get me started through the day.

I can now eat whatever I want, but choose to eat more healthy things so that my body will get the protein first, then dense calories later.

I was just telling my friend yesterday, this is the best thing that I have done for myself. I no longer have to struggle EVERYDAY thinking about what I can eat that will be low calorie and not cause weight gain......meanwhile....I felt like I was hungry and head-achy all the time. This sleeve really cures those failure triggers of hunger and sensations of starving, and is such a wonderful tool for helping me eat better, much less, and keep on track. I can truly say weight loss is no longer a struggle or even a concern.....it just happens and I have to expend very little energy to think about what I want or need to eat!

I wish you luck!

Warmly,

Gail

I will hoping to get the sleeve soon(self pay), but i have decided on the sleeve after months of trying to decide between the band, sleeve or mgb. Ive been reading all the posts daily and have really beenn keeping up with things. You all recently talked about the food and head hunger and i guess until i get sleeved i blame my hunger on my belly, lol. I am getting over a really bad stomach flu/bug and with the nausenas, bad stomach ache, diarhea, acid reflux(mind u i have never had this in my life, and i wasnt even eating). I can now say i know what you mean by head hunger...... ..because as i was feeling better my stomach was not yet ready for food but i was so craving food even though i wasnt really hungy. just wanted to throw that in there,,was weird i really couldnt relate then bam i relate...funny how that works lol
