Guest guest
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Mold Awareness Week September 19 – 24, 2004 MOLD VICTIMS ASCEND ON THE NATIONS CAPITOL Washington DC – Mold victim advocacy groups from across the nation will ascend on Capitol Hill this week to deliver their message to Congress and to bring national attention to the growing epidemic of serious residual health effects of indoor molds in schools, homes, workplaces and public buildings. The groups will be distributing packets to members of Congress that contain a sampling of current peer reviewed medical research, personal accounts of victims impacted by mold and signed petitions calling for Congressional Hearings to address the resulting adverse health affects of poor indoor environments. Advocates say their message is calling for federal regulations and help from the nations’ medical schools and medical organizations to heighten physicians awareness that mold related symptoms are all too often misdiagnosed and illnesses from poor indoor environments are becoming of critical proportion. In addition to the week’s activities in Washington, DC, mold victims, who have been directed by the more than 25 different groups, will be personally calling on their state and local elected officials across the county. The highlight of the week’s events will be a press conference by Congressman Conyers, Jr., author of H.R. 1268 titled: The United States Toxic Mold Safety and Protection Act at 10:30 am, September 22, in the Rayburn Building, Rm 2237, on Capitol Hilll. Joining the Congressman will be Bianca Jagger and national experts to discuss the global impact of mold and mycotoxins. The Mold Awareness Coalition will be participating in the press conference and will follow with an additional statement to the press during a congressional luncheon presented by the MAPER Coalition, an affiliate mold education and research organization. Mold Relief, Inc. will be displaying an angel tree for Members of Congress and all in attendance to have the opportunity to sponsor a child for Christmas, who has lost everything to mold. In exchange, the contributor will receive a beautiful crystal ornament.
