Guest guest
I've been researching WLS for a good long while now and I've decided I'm going to do it! I'm going to get the VSG, and I'm 99% on using Dr. Aceves. My biggest problem is going to be waiting. I am a gestational surrogate, I had a baby 5 months ago for an amazing couple, and I'm about to get pregnant again. I'm all done having my own kids and I'm pretty sure this is my last surrobaby. I'm planning to go to Mexico as a 30th birthday gift to myself at the end of 2012. So in the meantime, I'm researching, researching, joining groups, and trying to do all I can to comfort my husband (and myself, though I'm pretty set on it) that this is the right thing to do. My current BMI is in the high 30s (fluctuates from 35-39). I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy and some residual insulin resistance. That's what shocked me into being serious about this. GD was HARD and I don't want to have to deal with becoming diabetic. I've never been a healthy weight, so I have no idea what kinds of goals to set for myself. I'd love to be under 200 lbs, I'd love to be in single-digit sizes. Beyond that, I'll just see how it goes, I guess. What I REALLY want is not to worry about high blood pressure, insulin resistance and diabetes, and all the other health risks obesity poses. I want to be free! Anyway, I wanted to say hello, that reading your old posts is amazing and inspiring to me. It's going to be really hard for me to wait a year to have this surgery, to start the beginning of the rest of my life, but it's all in the journey, right??
