Guest guest
Hi Barb, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention the hookup I used on the fresh air intake. My Plumber charged $19.95 at the time and it consisted of nothing more than a damper and a screened intake to keep mice out. I did a search and here is the link for the company: http://www.skuttle.com/216.html We had used flexible insulated hose to hook up. Insulated is very important because in our neck of the woods, the very cold tempatures will frost up any uninsulated line and then drip moisture when it melts. The damper will stop air from coming in when your furnace fan is off, plus you can adjust the flow of incoming air. I ran ours wide open and left our furnace fan on 100% of the time. We did turn up our thermostat a bit for the cooler feel which could have been merely from lower humidity levels. When the furnace is off and the fan running, the air was not super cold because there still is a lot of inside air mixed in from the return.
