Guest guest
I'm new to this wonderful group, been lurking for about a week; I also was injured when our home was damaged in storm and had severe case of mold. The reason I'm posting today, there is a woman named Barb who is currently living in her car around the Woodbury, CT area because she was displaced from her apartment due to pesticide and mold contamination. Barb is 49, alone, a retired teacher and she's an avid writer about environmental issues. Currently she is in desperate need of safe shelter in Connecticut. Barb needs help because she is living in her car at present time and cannot tolerate hotels/motels or most apartments because they use pesticides, other chemical lung irritants and have mold issues. She's been in the car since November and the cold temperatures are now causing severe problems for her. Currently she is parking her car at night in a driveway of an MCS's home, she has an extension cord running from a small electrical heater in her car to the outside electrical plug to keep her warm at night and also has ability to use the indoor bathroom during the night. A week Monday she will have to leave this temporary night time arrangement and is now in desperate need to find: 1. Temporary shelter as a paying guest in a non-toxic home while she looks for permanent housing or 2. Even a place to park in the driveway where she can plug a heater into an outlet so her car will be warm to sleep in during the night? 3. Can anyone volunteer to look for rental properties for her in Central to Northern Connecticut because she can only go to a few places a week while she is resting and recuperating from her recent poisoning. Barb will reimburse all expenses and possibly pay a small hourly rate. 4. Anyone know of a safe shelter, a free standing home, that she could rent for short or long term occupancy. 5. And any safe public building Barb could use in the daytime to warm herself Barb has tried all social services but they are unable to help with this kind of need. Barb can be reached on her cell phone: 516-669-1402 or contact me off list please. This truly is an emergency and if you could cross post to other similar groups or contact churches and any organizations to assist Barb we would so appreciate your help.
