Guest guest
First fills for the 4cc, 9.75 cm or 210.0 cm bands range from about 0.3 to 2.5 cc, depending on a lot of factors the experienced fill person will consider. The actual number of the cc makes no difference at all. You'll see over the next few weeks how the fill is - your weight loss will be the detemning facot, whether of not you " feel " resriction or not. The average person needs 3-5 fills over several months to get to a good level. Each fill will be smaller and smaller. When you're near " good " as little as 0.1 or 0.2 cc will be all that is needed. You won't run out of room. no one ever has, unless they were banded at a very very low weight - less than 30-32 bmi or so. The band is made for much larger people, and those talking someone into banding them at very low weights are likely to have trouble in several areas. Fills will have to be very large to provide any compresiion, and all this pressure is possibly going to lead to longterm problems, like increased erosions and slips. That's the theory. We'll see in the next few years. sandy r > So I had my very first fill already yesterday. I was my 4 week > appointment. He said he put in 2 cc. Does that seem a little high to > anyone? Guest guest
Audrey, Sandy pretty much nailed it. My first fill was 2.2cc. The amount doesn't really matter. It's more just " not enough " , " too much " , or " just right. " As far as needing room for later, don't worry about it. You need what you need now. Good luck with the fill. Guest guest
I had my lap band on May 23rd. So far I am down about 23 pounds(give or take a couple depending on the day). I am scheduled for my first fill in Lincoln Ne tomorrow. Kinda scared.I hope it goes as easy as everyone describes fills in Mexico. I just couldn't afford the plane and the time being gone from home. 6 kids tends to limit my exploration tendencies. :)I don't think I have lost anything in the last 4 weeks. Just hovers around the same place. I know I am eating too much. All the long term food addictions are still there. On one hand I want to get a fill so I can lose again and on the other hand I will miss food all over again. I am really trying an exercise program but that is 2 steps forward and 4 steps back too. How is it I manage to " know " what to do but still can't get myself to do all the right things? Thanks to everyone, this site is such a support in this process. Guest guest
Hi Tonja, Don't be worried about the fill. I had my first one about 10 days ago with Dr. Campo and Dr. and it was easy. I also did not lose any weight from week 6 to 9 but believe I have lost something again after my fill on July 12th. I see my PCP today for a weigh-in and post-fill check-up. I'm hoping the scale moves down again since I definitely have restriction again. I know how you feel about missing the foods you used to eat. I feel that way sometimes too. Lately, I have been thinking "I just wish I could go and get that big old hamburger and eat it how I used to". The thing that gets me through is wanting to feel healthy and alive again. I know there is more to life than how I have been existing the past few years and it's time to live instead of just exist. As for the exercise, it's hard in the beginning but just start with short walks with your kids and increase it a little each week. I have 6 kids too and they would do anything to go for a walk with me. I bet yours are the same. Hang in there! aDOB May 9th,2008 (365) 345/3??/
