Guest guest
I just wanted to let all of you know that I just faxed the following letter and attached documents to the Senator's listed in my letter. Now we will have to see if they care about those of us ill from the Toxic Mold or if they are just more hot air. The CDC letter is too large to e-mail. I am submitting my Legislation at the federal level so that I don't have to go State by State. This should be a federal law that all States must follow. Ken Moulton 580-581-1657 December 13, 2004 Senator Shelby Senator Sarbanes Senate Banking Committee Fax: (202) 224-5137 Senator Imhofe Senator Jeffords Senator Lieberman Senator Clinton Senator Warner Senator Chafee Senate Environmental Committee Fax: (202)-224-5167 Senator Gregg Senator Kennedy Senate Health Committee Fax: (202) 228-5044 Senator Hatch Senator Leahy Committee on the Judiciary Fax: (202) 224-9102 Senator Kerry Senate Finance Committee (Sub-committee on Health Care) Fax: (202) 228-0554 Honorable Senator’s; I am writing to you because you represent the citizens of our Nation on issues that effect us all. You decide what Laws will be enacted or changed that will provide for a Safer and more secure nation. It is for these reasons that I must draw your attention to the catastrophic issue that confronts millions of Americans today, Toxic Mold. Toxic Mold is a major health danger to all Americans. It is especially dangerous to our most vulnerable - our children and the elderly. Sadly, besides being in our homes and where we work, it is also in many schools, nursing homes and government subsidized senior housing. I first informed some of you with this issue on May 6, 2002, see attached letter. Before I even became aware of the issues of Toxic Mold, I informed two House members, attached letter of 1998, of reasons we now know contribute to the growth of these dangerous Toxic Molds. This 1998 communication was submitted as a recommendation to a house Bill. Sadly, nobody ever responded to either letter. After reviewing each of your names and Home States, I find that there is a relationship between most of you and my Family which I will now highlight. Senator Shelby – I have many Family members in Alabama. We even have a community, Moulton Alabama, named after us. Senator Sarbanes – My Son, Ken, Jr. was born in Bethesda land in 1975 while I served our nation in the Army. My Wife and Son almost died there during the delivery. Senator Imhofe – My Family and I currently reside in Oklahoma so you are our State Senator. Senator Jeffords – You represent Vermont where many of my Family settled in the 17th and 18th Century. Senator Lieberman – I was born and raised in Connecticut in the late 1940’s so you represent the State of my birth and where many of my Family members still live. I left Connecticut, in 1969, when I volunteered and joined the Army and went to Viet Nam to defend and serve America. Senator Clinton – You were our First Lady for eight years and now represent New York. You represent the State which was attacked by Terrorist on 9-11. New York is also where my Grandmother was born in the 19th century. Senator Warner – My Wife, Virginia, and I lived in Virginia for several years while I served our Nation in the Army. Our daughter, , was also born there, Senator Chafee – My Daughter, , and Granddaughter, , live in Rhode Island. Senator Gregg – You represent New Hampshire which was settled by my Family in the mid 17th century. There is also a town, Moultonborough, named after my Family. Senator Kennedy – My Family came to Salem Massachusetts in 1629. Virginia’s Family came to Massachusetts from Ireland in the 19th century. Virginia and I lived there from 1977, when I left the Military, until 2002. Virginia gave birth to our Daughter, , who was born there while I was serving our Nation in Viet Nam. We were forced from our Centerville Massachusetts home, a few miles from your Hyannisport home, due to dangerously high levels of Toxic Mold. We left with only the clothes on our back. We lost, besides our health, over 750 thousand dollars through the destruction of our home, family photos, heirlooms, furniture and clothes. We will suffer the health consequences for the remainder of our life according to our Doctors due to the Toxic Mold. We became homeless due to the Toxic Mold that was caused by the combined corruption of local and state builders and local and state building and health inspectors. We first wrote to you for help several years ago. You have been the Senator for Massachusetts since 1962. You were our Senator for 27 years. Senator Hatch – While I can find no connection, I admire your dedication to our nation that you have displayed throughout your career on Capitol Hill. Senator Leahy – You, too, represent Vermont where many of my Family settled in the 17th and 18th Century. Senator Kerry – You, like Senator Kennedy, represent Massachusetts which is where we lost our home in 2002. We also asked you for help on the illegal construction and Toxic Mold issues as we did of Senator Kennedy. Our background is a little more detailed. Virginia, our one year old daughter and I met you in 1971 in Washington DC. You had just spoken before Congress about the Viet Nam War. We came to the Mall that evening and met you. I could not present myself in public to the media because I was still in Uniform with the Defense Intelligence Agency. I asked you for the past several years to help our Family both as a citizen of Massachusetts and as a fellow Viet Nam Vet. Your help never came for us. You let our Family down. Since 1996, I have been contacted by many Family’s in Massachusetts and later from across our Nation, for help with issues concerning substandard and illegal construction. This unsafe and illegal construction has been knowingly allowed for far too long. It puts the live, health and safety of America in danger. It is an epidemic. Since becoming active, after discovering Toxic Mold in our home, I have tried to enact Legislation to help the citizens of Massachusetts. Sadly, the State Legislature and Governor’s do not find it an important enough issue to discuss or pass Legislation on. Any attempt at discussion is stymied and frowned upon. For the past few years, many National television and news outlets have interviewed me about these issues. Some outlets filmed the devastation of the Toxic Mold in our home while others showed our attempts to talk to Massachusetts State Legislators. CBS News even had people from across America contact me on the issues of Toxic Mold after they did an Evening News story on Toxic Mold. Sine early 2002, I contacted many members of the United States House and Senate and White House, see attached CDC letter, on the issues of Toxic Mold and illegal and substandard construction. Here, too, nobody has shown any interest in discussing this Health epidemic that has swept across our Country. Your help is needed on these two issues, National Construction Lemon Laws and Toxic Mold. The construction issues are one of the main causes of this dangerous Toxic Mold. Also, the failure of a national standard means that many of the Federally insured construction loans and home mortgages are for worthless, unsafe and unhealthy buildings. My estimate is that the amount of Federally insured bad loans is in the over 200 Billion dollar range. There is currently Legislation by Congressman Conyers in the House that is his attempt to deal with the Toxic Mold issue. In my opinion, it is too weak. It forces the taxpayers to pay the cost for the insurance companies that have failed to cover policies for Toxic Mold. It bails out Insurance com panies that took our money and then refused to cover our damages. My Toxic Mold Legislation calls for the Government to issue Health and safety guidelines to protect us. It also holds accountable those that are responsible for many of the cases of Toxic Mold that have made family’s, like mine, homeless and forced to live in poverty. Is this the type of Legacy we want to pass on to Future Generations? I don’t, DO YOU? Yours Truly, Ken Moulton 2804 SW J. Ave. #36 Lawton, OK 73505 E-mail: kenhmoulton@...
