Guest guest
Thanks for letting us know. You will be up and walking around real soon. Just remember that we have all said when it comes to food this 1st month is the hardest. It isn't that you can't do it, it is boring and you want something a little more than they say to have. Follow the directions and before you know it you will be eating small amounts of food. You are going to feel really good in about 7 days. Enjoy being waited on and take one day at a time. Keep us posted. Suzanne In a message dated 2/7/2009 5:31:58 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, katratz2001@... writes: I.m out of sugery. thiks going good so far. Great Deals on Dell Laptops. Guest guest
I will 2nd that. Life as you knew it will change. I went some place yesterday and did a lot of walking--not once did I want to sit down. My back DIDN'T hurt at all and I no longer had a pain in my leg. Just those two things were worth everything to me--painless Yeah. Enjoy where you are going. Be excited about this. Be yourself and only share your success with those who appreciate what you are doing. Bipley once told me "you may lose some of your fat friends." and she was correct. But I don't need them if they truly aren't my friends. Suzanne In a message dated 2/8/2009 7:14:03 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, Bipley@... writes: Congrats! Guest guest
Cara! So glad that the surgery is over...yes taking deep breaths is difficult the first day or two...I had to breath into a tube...probably they just gave me a job to do as I waited...nothing to eat or drink for 24hrs...that was the hard part. But they do give great drugs to help you out. Hang in there, so glad you are doing well. Hope to hear more about your results soon!!! Love and hugs! Guest guest
Thanks everyone! Feeling much better today. Had a barium swallow and was kind of dissapointed. My esophagus regained some of it's turn ( not all but some) and the fluid was only trickling in. I didn't feel any trouble swallowing but then again I'm onlybon liquids right now. A resident came in to tell me that dr. L saw the test results and was pleased. So now I'm really confused. Even the radiologist said the fluid wasn't moving, so why would dr. L think that is ok? Maybe there is swelling? Guest guest
One thing I've learned from having an x-ray tech husband is to NEVER trust the radiologists  I'd wait to hear what your surgeon says and don't worry about what the rad is saying until it's confirmed by your surgeon. Guest guest
Ann, you are correct. I spoke with dr. L 's partner who was assisting in my surgery. He said the barium was for checking leaks only. He feels very confident that the food will flow much better than before once the edema goes away. Apparently I have swelling at the myotomy. So we will give it time. He mentioned that I could get " decades " out of this so maybe they really felt it was a success. Right now I have the left shoulder pain. Fun times! I leave tomorrow. Thanks for responding so quickly, it was good to hear you had a similar experience! C > > > > --- On Thu, 14/10/10, spotoca <cspoto@...> wrote > > > >  > > > > Thanks everyone! Guest guest
Cara I think that the test is just to test for leaks. Infact things will move quicker once the swelling goes down! I had the horrible shoulder pain also...lasted more than a week for me, pain meds helped once I got home. I'm glad that Dr. L feels so positive, that should make you feel good. Take care and please take it easy and rest. Julee So Calif. ________________________________ From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Thu, October 14, 2010 3:04:05 PM Subject: Re: Out of surgery  Ann, you are correct. Guest guest
, From what I gather, rice and luketich vary greatly on their approach and differ on technique. Luketich actually went in and got rid of scar tissue and mobilized my esophagus. You can see a stark difference on the barium swallow. The sigmoid loop has returned partially but it's much more vertical than it was before, he thinks it will stay this way for a while. I think rice " has a point " about the no durability comment, but what's the harm in trying? It definitely did something in my case. Well see when I move to solids...I just ate yorgurt and pudding with no issues except for a lot of noise in my stomach. Lol How are you doing? > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > --- On Thu, 14/10/10, spotoca <cspoto@> wrote > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> >  > >> > > >> > > >> > > >> > Thanks everyone! Feeling much better today. Guest guest
Good to hear from you Cara!!!! The soreness will last about 6-7 days and then it will ease up, the shoulder pain was what lingered for me, just be super careful about lifting things and you should heal fine.  Living on the pureed foods was hard, I was busy putting everything in the blender at first...not to mention living on chicken broth and popsicles for several days before and after the surgery. I'm so glad that this ordeal is OVER!!!! You are on the otherside...I'm so happy for you!!!!  Rest up and take your meds, they help!!!! Julee So Calif. ________________________________ From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Fri, October 15, 2010 6:25:58 AM Subject: Re: Out of surgery  Hey julee, Yes they all seem confident that things will go well. I guess I need to trust that. As for food, I am on full liquids/ pureed solids for 2 weeks and then a conservative solid diet for 2 months. No lifting anything more than 15lbs for 2. Months!!! I told them about my kids and they just told me that I could hold them but not pick them up from the floor, ugh. This will be hard as my help leaves in a week and a half Right now I feel so much better than yesterday. So much! I am up and walking and trying to move the gas. I leave tonight. To go home. Can't wait! C > > > > > > > > --- On Thu, 14/10/10, spotoca <cspoto@> wrote > > > > > > > >  > > > > > > > > Thanks everyone! Feeling much better today. Guest guest
Carry on the good work Cara. Please have patience and listen to your body. It will tell you how much to lift. The pain levels will go through the roof when you try to lift too much. Please be carefull. from the UK ________________________________ From: spotoca <cspoto@...> achalasia Sent: Fri, October 15, 2010 2:25:58 PM Subject: Re: Out of surgery  Hey julee, Yes they all seem confident that things will go well. Guest guest
Just about 2 hours out of recovery and I feel AMAZING!! I can't believe how good I feel, hopefully this last! All of the staff is wonderful here at the hospital and Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos are great. I feel so happy I had the sleeve done here. If only I cold have a drnk of water.... Guest guest
So glad you are feeling great. Don't want to burst your bubble, but that's the Morphine they put into your spine. You feel really good for about 24 hrs. and then it starts to wear off. Not that you'll feel bad, but the reality that you had surgery will start to register and you'll have some discomfort. Not PAIN, just discomfort; everyone is different. Keep walking as much as you can. Day 2 was the worst for me. By day 3 I was still a little queasy, but I went home on day 3 and was fine with the long car drive from Mexico to So. Calif. At least it's behind you now and your transformation will now begin. Congrats!! >> Just about 2 hours out of recovery and I feel AMAZING!! I can't believe how good I feel, hopefully this last!
