Guest guest
In my opinion, and in the opinion of many, the cause of the problem of building molds is the defective building material that has been sold to contractors and the American public for the past 60+ years - paper-backed insulation and gypsum board (sheetrock) among them. These materials have caused all of our buildings to become potentially lethal with just the addition of a slight amount of moisture - like might be found with naturally occurring condensation, humidity or inevitable leakage. So, ultimately, our buildings can and will poison us due to these flaws. We must correct and address this national problem. The companies producing these materials must be held accountable and cease the production of materials that will continue to harm American consumers. We must modify the buildings made with these materials to prevent further poisoning of our citizenry, with products and methods that now exist, improving on these as time goes on. Those made ill by mold deserve the full support of the government, medical community and general public. We cannot turn our backs on these ordinary citizens who have become ill, by the millions, due to flawed construction materials. Our public schools, with neglectful maintenance and flawed designs, are in even worse shape than the average home or workplace, and, thus, grow molds that harm students and teachers at alarming rates. We need governmental leadership and grassroots demands for help to culminate in solutions - NOW. This is a national health problem that cannot wait.
