Guest guest
This is an attorney practicing in the Atlanta area. I met him a couple of years ago at a conference, questioning him about a mold case that he was handling at that time. After questioning him about certain areas of the case (which I had already known the true facts) I " nicely " confronted him about his inaccurracies. He didn't like this and walked out in the middle of the conference. It was his first case and he then considered himself a " Mold Expert " . (Which is how he was advertising himself.) http://www.wsbtv.com/news/3996028/detail.html Lawyer Accused of Bilking Clients Arrested F. Peebles POSTED: 11:59 am EST December 14, 2004 UPDATED: 12:12 pm EST December 14, 2004 LAWRENCEVILLE -- A lawyer who practices in Norcross is accused of paying off personal debts using more than $1 million in checks he cashed that were supposed to go to his clients for case settlements. F. Peebles, 54, of Flowery Branch was arrested Dec. 9 at his home and charged with 10 counts of first-degree forgery. He was being held without bail because when he was arrested he was packing a bag, suggesting he was a flight risk, police said. In September, Peebles cashed checks at a Norcross bank that were received as settlements in three of his clients' cases and used the money to pay off personal debts, said Gwinnett County police spokesman Dan Huggins. The transactions initially did not raise suspicion because Peebles was an attorney, Huggins said. Later, one of the victims apparently realized what was going on and alerted police. The investigation is continuing to determine if there were any more victims of the scheme. Peebles is due in court for a hearing on Thursday.
