Guest guest
To all of you who try to perfect your home air quality, do you burn wood in a fireplace? Is there an air quality problem with that? My damper accidentally shut twice in two days and filled room with smoke so I am having chimney cleaned tomorrow but made me think about it since I had to replace all air filters afterwards. Luckily since I keep central fan going all the time, most of smoke appears to have been picked up in air filters rather than settle on furniture and drapes. At least I don't notice any damage to them but air filters I had were black. The room still smells smokey so not out yet. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have been having increased problem with throat soreness which is my main problem besides fatigue and also eye soreness. Can a person use one of those built in glass enclosures to protect the air?????? I think they blow hot air out into room though, don't they? I hate to give up on the fireplace. I usually only burn it around the holidays and through Jan/Feb, i.e. coldest weather. However the air in house has been 'smelling' so much cleaner and fresher since I started this project and this week I'm coughing and air smells smokey made me think about it. Of course it was smokey because damper closed by accident. Chimney guy said to stick a brick up against damper to make sure it stays open. It could have ruined my wallpaper/lamp shades, etc if I didn't catch it right away. > > In a message dated 1/4/2005 1:56:04 PM Pacific Standard Time, > barb1283@y... writes: > > To all of you who try to perfect your home air quality, do you burn wood in > a fireplace? > > > not any more - it produces fine particulate matter and gases that my > respiratory system can no longer tolerate. unfortunately - we have a beautiful > fireplace > > one more reason to dislike this illness! >
