Guest guest
The last year of my life was spent in mold hell. Long sad story, that is still not over. Well, now in a new location, I wanted nothing from the old location in my bedroom, so I needed to buy new furniture. Although I love antiques, I decided that they were not wise as I am now at the uppermost end of sensitity ( The environmental consultant I used claims I am much more accurate than any test out there). Well, the nice newly constructed armoire I purchased smells of mold (inside). There is no visible mold but in the store I sensed something when examining the piece, and chose to ignore my intuition, because I liked the piece so much. Well, now I own the armoire ( which was expensive) and I am looking for advice as to what to do. What is causing the odor? Will it decrease over time as the piece airs out? Is there anything I can do to the piece? Throwing it out is not an option---My husband did not want to buy it in the first place and our relationship and finances have been strained to the the extreme as a result of the last year in mold hell. So, any ideas would be appreciated...Is the odor just something that it absorbed in its prior surroundings or is it really moldy even though it looks fine? Maybe antiques really are the better choice- I never had any mold issues with them----Jeri
