College Professors Latest to Claim Health Effects From Mold Contamination January 17, 2005 http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/southeast/2005/01/17/49733.htm College professors in Kentucky have joined the ranks of Americans claiming to suffer from the health effects of mold contamination. Advertisement Faculty, including two nursing lab faculty members, at Mayville Community College complained of respiratory ailments, souring an investigation that uncovered several forms of mold in the sections of the college's heating, ventilation, air conditioning system as well as inside walls, the Maysville Ledger-Independent reported. Some foes of the mold remediation industry contend there are no widespread ill effect from mold contamination, while the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Environmental Protection Agency warn of health impacts. In Kentucky, college officials have sealed off contaminated section of the facility and are conducting remediation. Industry educator Bob , of Enviro-Mold Video-Aire in Texas, told CM e-News Daily that mold remediation costs topped the discussion list at a recent national conference of property insurance industry executives.
