Guest guest
Hi Yong Wei, I'm probably your nearest neighbour on this group: I'm in HK. I have heterochromia - one blue eye and one brown. Don't worry about your son's eyes: unless the specialist comes up with a reason to worry, he's probably just like me - just a normal person whose eyes came out different! Regards, Kate From: Yong Wei <tyongwei@...>Subject: My son's Sectoral Heterochromia iridisheterochromia Date: Thursday, 24 July, 2008, 11:25 AM All,My son is 9 weeks old now. We noticed his eye with diff color around 1month ago. We only know this term when we brought him to eyespecialist yesterday. Lucikily it does not affect his vision at all. But, it is kind of weird that non of us in our family tree haveheterochromia. I know it may be caused by the melanocytes. :-)BTW, I am from Malaysia. Is there anyone from Malaysia or Singapore?cheers,Yong Wei Not happy with your email address? Guest guest
Dear Kate,Hi, nice to meet you! :-) Yeah, we are relief after consulting with the eye specialist. Also, after have done some research on the heterochromia, we get to know this a little bit more in-depth. :-)Hey, mind to share your experience (if any) when ppl saw your unique eyes color?cheers,Yong Wei My son's Sectoral Heterochromia iridisheterochromiaDate: Thursday, 24 July, 2008, 11:25 AM All,My son is 9 weeks old now. Guest guest
Hi Yong Wei,I'm glad you're feeling better about your son. When my mother first noticed my eyes when I was a baby, the doctor told her she must be imagining things! But seriously, just keep checking his hearing - if his heterochromia's due to Waardenburg's, that's the only problem that may occur. (Well, my uncle says it also causes Bad Choices in love, but that's just because my cousin and I both have Waardenburg's and are both divorced!)My experience is that people often stare at me, and I can tell they're thinking "There's something odd", but they can't work out what it is. Then they usually say "Oh! Did you know you've got different coloured eyes?" When I was younger I used to say something like "Oh my god! Really? Where's a mirror, quick!" But now I'm more polite. If I'm feeling self-deprecating I mention it's more common in pigs than in humans. Also, it's much more common now for people to assume I'm wearing coloured contact lenses just for effect. I've been asked where I get such effective contact lenses.Best,Kate From: Yong Wei <tyongwei (DOT) com>Subject: My son's Sectoral Heterochromia iridisheterochromiaDate: Thursday, 24 July, 2008, 11:25 AM All,My son is 9 weeks old now.
