Guest guest
Hi Terry, That's a great idea, I was just thinking about making a point of celebrating the day, for the first time this year. " I Look Different " across my chest isn't really my style though -- " If you can read this, your 'driving' too close " ;-) Great it comes in kids sizes too, helping them to embrace & " own " the difference. I hope you do variations! something that just says the second part - Celebrate Heterochromia July 12,(2008 ...different versions yearly)? Then they could be worn by non-heterochromiacs too. And, personally, I'd prefer more realistic eyes. A T-shirt poll was conducted in this group (ongoing?)with some other ideas listed too. And didn't someone here write the idea, something about, " I'm Heterochromic; you're Homochromic " . Where did I read that? maybe it was, " if I'm a Heterochromic, you're a homochromic " --? I can't recall but, it was cute. I'd love a T-shirt with a block of 9 or 12 smaller blocks, each a close up of a real eye, and each block coloured differently --not unlike a checkerboard--blue, green, brown, (1/2's & 1/4's too?) Like an Andy Warhol piece. Would this link be of any use to you? <http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/> Hope my feedback helps. Good luck with your store! Guest guest
Hi, Lorelei, Thanks for the links and ideas. This is the first of several shirts I hope to design. I did one for myself and got such a fun response that I decided to share. I will be doing some more designs as time allows, though I'm a full time glass artist and my show season is upon me so my time is spread thin. The idea behind " I look different " wasn't so much how I look to others as how I use " different " eyes to look with. I have a shop for my glass shirts on Cafe Press but I've been much more impressed with the quality of Printfections shirts. Cafe Press does offer some items that Printfection doesn't so I might look into adding a store there. Thanks! Guest guest
Let me do some checking on that, Cheryl. I'll email you the details soon! Guest guest
Ooh, Lorelei,The Andy Warhol theme is a great idea for a t-shirt! I think a set of Marilyn eyes with different colored irises would be cool, and even people who don't have heterochromia would dig them! I'm an artist too, I'll mock some up and maybe me and Terry can do some bidness! :)I just did a warhol inspired piece for a promotion - there are also examples of drawn eyes. What do you think of a combo of the two? (Hope this isn't crossing the boundaries, the intent is to give reference for the shirt idea.) www.freewebs.com/emilyloen
Guest guest
Ah, I do wish I could wear one of these great T-shirts! I am just finishing the final revisions on my MG fantasy novel, Escape to Tal La'ir, in which and her contemporaries, all girls with hetrochromia, vie for the position of helmswoman on the world of Tal La'ir, sanctuary to the last remnants of Earth's maligned dragons. Possession of The Eyes is, of course, the only way to claim this honor, and it is through this site that I have been able to get into the heads of my characters. For that ability, I sent heartfelt thanks to all of you. Oh, if only I had those fabulous eyes.... Kate Arthur Re: Heterochromia T-shirts Hi, Lorelei,Thanks for the links and ideas. Guest guest
Hi Terry, I just ordered a T-shirt in the Sport Grey with the left eye blue and the right eye green. I have a little pie of hazel in my blue eye and did not see a t-shirt specific to that, but you would might have to create endless drawings and t-shirts to accomodate all of us. In any event, I bought the one closest to my eye colors and look forward to receiving it and wearing it proudly united in spirit with all of us on July 12 and any other day I feel like wearing it to. Thank you so much for creating the shirts and sharing them with us. They are all so cute. Guest guest
Thanks, Holly! I hope you wear it with pride! I made a list of the possible combinations and it was a little overwhelming. I'll be adding more goodies as time allows. I plan to wear my shirt (mine is the brown and blue sectoral one) quite a bit. I'm so glad to get to know you folks! Guest guest
I've been working on a new design with lots of different combinations on them. I'll post the info when I get it completed. Guest guest
Your story sounds wonderful, Kate! Where will we be able to find it when it is completed? I've been swamped with requests for " supporters " of heterochromatics to have their own shirt to wear. I'm working on that design and will have it up soon. Guest guest
Thank you for the replies! COOL! Terry, do you have a website for your glass art? I love glass art. What a coincidence too, as I just came across glass eyeball marbles on eBay, sold in 'singles': <http://stores.ebay.ca/The-Land-of-Shadow-and-Magic> Just some EYE Candy, might spark some " eye-deas " for you too Can you imagine heterochromic sets, life sized or larger. ....useful to doll artists as well as the collectors ( & parents- " I got my eyes on you! " I'm looking forward to seeing pix of members in their new T's here; please post them?! Guest guest
Hey, here's an 'astronomical' idea for a T-shirt ;-) A pic of the Helix Nebula, which has also become known as the " Eye of God " You can view it here; you'll see why! <http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/entire_collection/pr2004032d/> <http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2003/11/> The astronomical " Eye of God " on a shirt celebrating heterochromia day would speak, 'there are no mistakes' Clear Skies! Guest guest
Hello Kate, Thank you for keeping us posted, very interesting! I have at times wished I could " try on " a matching set of coloured contact lenses, just to know what it would be like to see two matching solid-coloured eyes in the mirror... there's something fabulous in the show of colour in perfect stereo too all the best with your writing! Guest guest
Hey , I just had the chance to look through your website, thank you for sharing it. This is a creative group of people! I enjoyed your artwork and your anatomy studies --nice eyes, they make you look for a reflection of the observer in them! Your " Jesus Live " is a perfect example of what I meant, a colourful mosaic. What do I think? I think, I want to buy one Let me know what you guys come up with? Thank you, and Terry, for creating T-shirts for us. Next we'll be hearing reports of Heterochromia T-shirt sightings...
