Guest guest
Howdy, I have had these " funny colored eyes " for as long as I can remember. My right eye has one section with a darker pigment (hazel??) in its lower half. My left eye and the top of my right eye are kind of blue. Just today, I discovered what this condition is called and have been feverishly researching it... amazing! Several years ago, I asked a med student about it and she said that it was a sign that either I was brilliant or I was insane. Living on the verge of both, I accepted her answer at face value - though I suspected she was having me on ;-) Growing up, I knew of only one other person who had this eye thingy. He was in my 1st grade class and had the same first name. For awhile there when I was younger, I thought that anyone who had our first name must have different colored eyes... [maybe I'm closer to the insane side than the brilliant]. For many years I had a gold tooth. My eye coloration, combined with the gold tooth allowed me to have many interesting and engaging conversations with the opposite sex. Many of those conversations began with the highly intelligent question, " Did you know you had different colored eyes? " ...DUH!!!! which was followed by my somewhat snarky reply, " No one ever told me that before - I'd better see a doctor. " Once, I participated in a sensitivity session related to prejudice where people were separated by the color of their eyes. Eerybody easily self-ifentified if they were closer to blue or brown eyes. I stood helplessly in the middle of the room as others separated into their eye color groups. To the amazement and frustration of the session facilitator (who could not discern what to do about my multi- colored eyes) there was no guide as to how to deal with folks like me in the session - so I stood in the middle by myself for the reminder of the day - talk about prejudice and ostrasizing :-( Anyhow, imagine my surprise and delight when I found this group. I'll be exploring past posts for quite some time to learn more, so forgive me if I lurk. Suffice to say for now that I'm happy to be a member.
