Guest guest
Teri, You don't have to feel embarrassed. I am an intelligent woman too (straight "A" college student, graduated with high honors, management career) and I was very naive about the whole breast implant issue when I first got them. It isn't us. It is them. The whole medical community has the responsiblity to educate and inform us about their medical devices. We go to them because they are supposed to be the experts. They are the ones who had years and years of medical training, they charge the big bucks for their expertise and services, so they are the ones who are supposed to educate us about all the possibilities of trouble with breast implants. I don't know about you, but my breast implant experience has given me a different view of mankind. I realize now that the allopathic medical field, while making great strides in SOME areas of medicine, is fraught with a complex mix of business interests, politics, greed, arrogance, and ignorance. The medical field is good for emergencies. It is my personal opinion it is not good for much else. Plastic surgery is to me a derisive specialty, tainted by the flagrant marketing of flawed breast implants, always new and improved. We've heard this for years. And with some implants as huge as basketballs, they end up making women look just plain stupid and freakish. That is not medicine. Anyway, give yourself some credit. You've educated yourself, empowered yourself with knowledge that the plastic surgeon should have give you. You are capable of making the right decisions for your future. I AM SO ASHAMED AND EMBARRASSED on how NAIVE I have been thru all of this. I was very scared to write my story for fear of what people would think. Even until last week(after he replaced with smooth implants) I still didn't know that the shell of the implant was silicone. Believe this or not, I am an intelligent woman. I just was not thinking when I did of this and put alot of trust into my PS that he would inform and educate me, so I never thought to research or doubt him on any of this, until last week. Even after I left 2 weeks ago when he replaced for smooth implants, I forgot to request all my medical records from Day one because I was soooo emotionally drained and could not believe this PS that I had trusted did this and doesn't even care. I am so EMBARRASSED it took me 4 1/2 years to research and REALLY READ BETWEEN THE LINES and that is when I figured everything out. I WILL DO what you have informed to do and thank you again, for giving me this information. Teri
