Guest guest
EtG is a metabolic product of ethyl alcohol formed in the liver. Other alcohols are not metabolized to EtG. The ethyl alcohol that reaches your liver was either from an exogenous source or was formed endogenously in the GI tract. In evaluating exogenous sources, you need to look at any way EtOH could be absorbed into the bloodstream--via GI tract (foods or liquids; oral medications), percutaneous absorption (hygiene/beauty/cleaning products absorbed through the skin), mucus membranes (mouthwashes/rinses; throat sprays; Listerine or Altoid breath strips), or inhalation (asthma inhalers; aerosolized beauty products like hairspray or perfume; aerosolized cleaning products like Lysol, Windex, or carpet cleaners; aerosolized hygiene products like Purell; fuel containing ethanol; potentially, any ethanol-containing product that is breathed into the lungs). There are no studies on how any of these products affect EtG levels. Some deli meats, particularly salami, contains white wine. Many fresh fruit juices along with overripe fruits contain some alcohol which forms during fermentation. Other than that, read all labels carefully. > > Since I keep testing positive for etg, I can't figure what is causing > the positives.
