Guest guest
Hi group, I am kind of grabbing at straws here, but I think we need to really speak up about the FDA advirsory panels decision to lift the ban on silicone gel implants. I wrote my state senators a letter just now, and maybe I am still too mad about it to speak sanely, but here is what I wrote. I encourage ALL of you, every single one of you to write your state representatives to register your complaint! To make it easy on you, I'll provide the link. http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm You just plug in your state, and you will get the names of your senators, and the link to the form needed to write your reprensentatives your feelings. These below came right out of my heart, and I didn't make any effort to be diplomatic. You may write however you feel, but please, just write. Patty Dr. Senator,I hope I don't sound too hysterical in this letter, as I really am a very law abiding citizen. However, the recent FDA recommendation to lift the ban on silicone gel breast implants has me completely in shock, then anger. You see, I was one who suffered from breast implants. They very nearly ruined my life. In the 5 years that it has taken me to recover since their removal, I have met and spoke to or communicated with hundreds if not thousands of other women who have had similar or worse nightmares to live through because of breast implants. My concern is that the US government seems to be hurtling into a financial train wreck of catastophic proportions. Breast implants will only inflame that blaze, with women left destitute (AND BELIEVE ME, THEY ARE LEFT DESTITUTE), and on welfare, disability or other social services. Why is it that the government seems to be so utterly cautious on the one hand (get your flu shots! Get those military people vaccinated! Get your babies vaccinated!) and on the other, throws caution to the wind with a highly dangerous medical device that is completely and utterly unnecessary? Most women getting implants are healthy women who just want larger breasts. The risks are catastophic if they become so ill they cannot function. Why is it that the government is even seeking to recover money from Dow for the women that were ill and on the government dole? It makes no sense whatsoever. I am sufficiently upset over this, among other things our government does with our tax money, to wonder how I can best register my complaint over government decisions. I would like to just stop paying taxes, to tell the truth. I have no confidence in the way government money is spent. Where are the wise men? My next stop is the website for Citizens Against Government Waste. My question for you, and please take this seriously, is how are American citizens able to effectively (and this is the key word- EFFECTIVELY) register their disatisfaction with government spending decisions? In the market, we do that by not patronizing those businesses we are not happy with. So how do I stop giving the government the money they are asking for, when I've decided they don't deserve it because of foolish decisions like the recent FDA one? I await your reply.
