Guest guest
I wish there were some way of helping you get an appt, but I really don't think there is...Dr. Vasey is a very well known doctor in the breast implant arena, having written a book called THE SILICONE BREAST IMPLANT CONTROVERSY What Women Need to Know, with Josh Feldstein (1993, The Crossing Press Freedom, CA 95019 ISBN; 0-89594-609-2). Hopefully you can get in on a cancellation, and I think that is the best you can hope for. The only other advice I can give you is to suggest that you seek an appt with another competent doctor in the breast implant field, and for that you may have to travel out of state. I wish we had a list of doctors for healing, but finding good rheumatologists has been extremely difficult. For the most part, we have had to seek out alternative medicine docs who understand the concept of toxicity better than traditional MD's do. I personally have no recommendation for a good personal physician, although certain Dr's names do come to mind as being knowledgeable about the breast implant controversy. Perhaps I can help you by giving you phone numbers for these doctors, and they can further assist you with others they may know to recommend? I guess it is worth a shot. (I am not certain these phone numbers are still valid, so please keep this in mind) Dr. Pierre Blais (Expert of failed medical devices, Canada) 613.728.8688 Dr. Arthur sson, neurologist (Houston, TX) 713.790.9590 Dr. Garry (Dept. of Immunology, Tulane Univ., New Orleans, LA) 504.587.2027 Dr. Shanklin, (Dept. of Pathology, Univ of TN, Memphis) 901.448.6300 , MD (New York) 212.598.6091 Please let me know if this is helpful to you in your search. We have every intention to undergo an explanation very soon. Because we live in Florida, Dr. Vasey was recommended as an astute doctor with regards to implants vis-à-vis idiopathic and connective tissue diseases. My wife is very ill and we feel a great urgency to meet with Dr. Vasey. Only problem is, Dr. Vasey's first available appointment is on April 26, 2004. We have contacted his office for both a cancellation and with regard to our urgency; we have been stonewalled with each call. We understand that there are others with very serious problems that also would like to see Dr. Vasey, however, we are desperate to talk to a medical professional who understands implant related diseases that does not dismiss the first notion of the implants as a causation of my wife's illness. Is there someone that may be in a position to lend advice with regard to scheduling an exigent appointment with Dr. Vasey?Thanking you in advance. Guest guest
I also tried back in January to get an appt with Dr. Vasey as he came highly recommended from another girl I met in the group and I wanted answers about whether or not my implants were making me sick. I couldn't get one for months so I went to another Rheumy in town (I live in /Tampa) that wasn't sure about the implants and though he was very nice didn't offer much help as he didn't see this often. I went ahead and made an appt w/ Dr. Vasey in January 2004 several months back. When I called orignally to see him, I was told that the wait was so long as I would be a new patient. At the time she told me that if I made an appt w/ another doc in his office it would be much sooner and then I no longer would be a " new patient " therefore I could see Dr. Vasey sooner. I ended up getting explanted anyways in April without seeing him because I didn't want to wait any longer. I knew in my heart that it was my implants making me sick and I wanted them gone. You may want to try this approach with the other doctor just to not be a new patient anymore which may expedite your wife's appt. w/ dr. Vasey. Also - I called the office for you this morning to see if there were any cancellations in the near future and the girl gave me another phone # for someone named Kim that worked on cancellations, etc. and said that there may be some spots opening up in November. I don't know if you have tried talking to her yet but if you want to email me directly I would be happy to give you the number I was given - I am not sure if I can post phone #'s on the site??? i am kinda new at this! Better yet since we live in the same area I would be happy to talk or meet with you or your wife and help in any way that I can. this is a terrible thing that we are going through and anything I could do to share my story or offer support - whatever - I am up for it. If you are in doubt about the implant safety I even have mine in a box that I would be happy to show you - one look at them and I promise you will NEVER doubt again. I will be happy to give you my phone number - just let me know. Shari

Guest guest
Is Dr Vasey a rehumatologist and if so is he so busy because he is in Florida where breast implants are so popular? Makes ya wonder doesn't it?
