Is this hard to live > with? > I'm not sure about some of your questions, such as how early heterochromia can be/is detected and if her eyes will always be different colors. I've lived with heterochromia (my left eye is brown and my right eye is green) for all of my 29 years and never found it 'hard' to live with. Of course there was teasing, i.e. you have eyes like that dog!, and of course, what happened to your eyes?!?! But most of the time, people either don't notice because when people talk, they usually stare only at one eye of the other person (test this out yourself!) and when they do notice, I get the " Did you know you have different colored eyes? " or " That's really neat/cool/awesome/etc. " So as for the hard to live with part, I'm not too sure what you mean by that. Just something that she should be proud of since she's different! Check out this site, maybe some helpful info for you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochromia and http://en.allexperts.com/e/h/he/heterochromia.htm Hannah

Guest guest
Hello, You should bring this to the attention of your daughter's doctor, as there are certain conditions that have heterochromia as a side effect. It's not likely that she has any of these conditions; the main symptoms are much more noticeable than heterochromia. Check out the wikipedia article on Heterochromia for more information. What your daughter has is sectoral heterochromia (as opposed to central heterochromia like Elfstar). This is much easier on her eyesight and should not effect her ability to focus in bright light...really she shouldn't have any difficulty that would be attributed to her heterochromia. Basically, your daughter is probably fine, and will grow up to love her unique eyes. She's in good company with us heterochromiacs, and don't hesitate to ask any questions; this is a great group of people. Guest guest
What a lucky little girl!! I have a hazel/brown right eye and a blue/green hazel left eye- I have been told by my family my whole life how beautiful and unique my eyes are- (what a great self esteem booster) There are a lot of famous people with different colored eyes: Dan Aykroyd Kiefer Sutherland Walken Kate Bosworth Mila Kunis Jane Seymour the Great Aristotle Anastasios Dicorus Miss America 2004 (rumor?) Marilyn Manson (faker - uses colored contact lenses) Yuna (character from the video game Final Fantasy X) Musician Bowie is often thought to have heterochromia, but this is not the case as Bowie's eyes are both blue (his left pupil is permanently dilated due to a childhood injury). Have you seen the movie " Practical Magic " ?-- The girl is looking for her " Impossible perfect man-- with one blue eye and one green eye " We even have our own special day-- July 12th!! " Different Colored Eyes Day " http://www.holidayinsights.com:80/moreholidays/July/coloredeyesday.htm **And the perfect book for your beautiful little girl would be: " The Incredible Peepers of Penelope Budd " --by Marie Karns--a great story about a little girl with different colored eyes. You should be able to find it on Amazon.com or half.com I bought a copy for my niece's son-- who is my little look-alike—2 years old now. Marcia > > Hello I am hoping you all will be able to give me some advice. My daughter, now 6 months old, has two different colored eyes. One eye is a true blue, the other is hazel to brownish. Now at 6 months of age it is likely that this is her eye colors. My aunt has to different colored eyes and my cousin has a splash so I am guessing this is where it came from. > > I was wondering if you all had any advice to a parent that can help. As far as any self esteem issues or teasing from other children? Of course we think the two different eye colors is pretty cool, but I want to make sure that it never is an issue for our daughter as well. Any advice or insight would be great! > > Thanks in advance! >
