Guest guest
Kacey, Before breast implants, I only had one allergic reaction that I knew of... that was to metals in cheap jewelry. I could only wear 14 k gold earrings in my ears and on my fingers. I got rashes with nickel, silver, or any other metal. After implants, however, I cropped up with more and more allergies. For the first time in my life, I had allergies to foods. Things I never had any trouble with before, ever, like chocolate, soy, eggs, corn, dairy, red food colorings. I am still keeping the hope that I can get rid of these, because allergy tests showed them to be the delayed reaction type allergies, which have more success in overcoming than permanent allergies that have immediate severe reactions. Does anyone know of an association between people who are allergic and those that react to breast implants? Thanks! Just trying to make a connection!Kacey (kaceyalong@...) Guest guest
Hi Kacey, I never had a single allergy to anything before getting implants. I had my implants in for 8 long years and during that time I became so allergic and sensitive to so many different things. Food allergies, environmental allergies, chemical sensitivities. I started to become a hermit because everywhere I went certain smells like cigarettes, perfume, car exhaust, even food cooking would cause me to break out in hives. I saw a dermatologist who put me on antihistamines and I took it every single solitary day for 3 years solid. I was explanted 13 months ago and since the morning before my explant surgery I have not taken an antihistamine since. My allergies have improved 90%. I still have a few food allergies and I am allergic to ragweed and pollens but I can now go places and tolerate most odors in small doses. I used to get immediate raging headaches when I smelled chemicals, etc. and now I can handle it better and may not get a headache at all. This improvement was one of the first things I noticed after explant and it has continued to improve. I truly think I became allergic to the silicone (so do my docs) over time and it caused the other sensitivities/allergies. I also had/have a problem with systemic candidiasis (yeast) and this can also cause many of these same problems. I would imagine if you already had allergies prior to getting implants then it will probably only make them worse. Take care, Crystal P.S. i also was diagnosed with asthma 4 years after getting implants. This was around the same time the allergies fully manifested. Guest guest
Crystal, It is so true, I realy believe implants set off an infflammatory reaction, and cause you to be ey make you sensitive to everything! I am so glad you are doing better. And it was great to talk to you the other day, I might add! I also wanted to say that I have never had sensitivities my whole life.I mean we always had 2 or 3 cats, lived by a million trees, and was never sick. About 4-5 years after being implanted, I all the sudden could not cope with smells of lotions & perfumes, looking out on a bright day, I was so sensitive to sunlight! When it would snow during the day, I couldnt bear the glare. I couldnt stand loud noises, football games, or anything. And I was on Pom Poms all throughout highschool. I used to love concerts and games. Noises, smells, lights, you name it, I couldnt stand it. Iwould swell if I got stung by a bee, my eyes would water if someone just sprayed household cleaners, I would get headaches if mopping the floor or cleaning the toliets. I became so sensitive to eveything. Now a year tomorrow-after my explant , I no longer have these problems. The only thing that gets to me is bleach, and nail polish remover. Other than that, I got the very things out of my body that I was truely sensitve to, and now my system has the chance to relax and calm down.Instead of reacting to every little thing, because it was so "wired" from the implants bothering my immunity. I even think straighter now, more clear, and calm.Everthing seemed so busy, to much to handle then, anxious like. Implants cause alot of issues, more than we know. >From: CrystalRDH@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Allergies/breast implants/and illness >Date: Tue, 9 Sep 2003 18:49:19 EDT > >Hi Kacey, > >I never had a single allergy to anything before getting implants.
