Guest guest
After 7 urine specimens containing E. coli and 5 uninfected control urines were supplemented with C. albicans and glucose to generate ethanol (all samples were initially negative for ethanol), the ethanol concentrations after 7-day storage at 22 °C ranged from 0.73 to 1.47 g/L (median 1.17 g/L). Formation of EtG (range 1.8–71.4 mg/L) was observed in 3 specimens containing E. coli, but in none of the uninfected controls.
