Guest guest
Patty, I know you said you have hoshimotos. I was tested for that a few years ago. Do you have an alternative Dr. who treats this or regular Dr. Thanks... Sorry for all the question. dimonds68
Guest guest
No prob Dimonds! You know I love hearing from you! I'm so sorry about your hair loss and bald spot....that stinks totally, and I really don't know what to tell you. If your TSH is at 1.60, that actually shouldn't be too bad, but then again, I have no idea if you would do better at a higher number or lower number...and you were tested for Anti-TPO antibodies, right? (That's the marker for Hashimotos.) As for thyroid meds messing with your hair, yes, they can. had that experience. It is all a part of the whole thyroid issue...hair loss is just part of it any way you look at it. It is really a very complicated balancing issue. The only one who will be able to tell you what works for you is YOU, working with a doctor who is willing to find your right balance with you. It was an alternative doctor who diagnosed my Hashimoto's. I had gone in to see him for an IV of vitamins, and he did the blood work beforehand...I had no idea what he was testing me for, so I was pretty suprised when he told me I had an autoimmune thyroid disease about a week later... I then went to an endocrinologist, who confirmed it. I've been to both of them in the past year, and they have two very different ideas about how to treat it. The alternative doc wants me on cytomel and Armour both, while the endocrinologist wants me only on a small dose of Armour. Actually he wanted me on Synthroid and I said, "nope!" I've been ping ponging between the two docs until I decided to just go with the alternative doc and stay on the cytomel and higher dose of Armour. I have been feeling pretty good on it. Actually, I think I am heading into hyperthyroidism at this point though....have had some heart palpitations, so I may have to cut back. All I know is that the alternative doc is much more liberal with his prescription than the traditional doc. At any rate, I am hoping these glyconutrients fix me up and I can get off everything. I really wish I had some good answers for you Dimonds, but I don't....at least not yet anyway. You've made such good progess so far, and I am ecstatic for you! Have you tried the essential oils in a hair wrap and scalp massage? They are not that expensive, and I think I'd put more hope in those than expensive hair preparations. How about thymus gland supplements? Have you tried those?
