Kim,

Having heard from you personally and knowing who did this surgery, I am appalled.

This just blows me away. Is the only reason she didn't remove the capsule because you were not a full paying client? (Am I remembering correctly that you were on medicaid?) I mean, for crying out loud, if she is going to get them out of you, and she knows the score, I would have expected better of her. I am really disappointed for you about this. Just another notch against some of our plastic surgeons.....you deserved better! It is my hope that each and every woman going through explant can find a caring, compassionate, understanding doctor, as this surgery has so much emotion tied up in it, and it isn't an easy process.

After all the crap we've gone through with implants, the least we should expect is compassion, and caring concern from plastic surgeons, who will take care to do this right. DAMN! Where are they?!

Obviously, they HATE the job of removing implants. Especially when there is no money in it for them. They've been spoiled rotten by the ease of implanting and the huge bucks that go with it.

Kim, I'm sorry, and I hope I didn't make you feel any worse about your explant. The fact is, they are out of you, and that is a good thing. You can get on your way to healing now. I do hope you are doing much better, and I pray that your ordeal is truly over, too. I'll be keeping you in my prayers!

Subject: Its over

Today I went in armed with all my information and my Dr. went over it piece by piece with me. I decided to go ahead with it, basically so i could get some feedback regarding the implants and the scar tissue, and if my symtoms don't improve, i can continue to save money for the capsulectomy. At least i would have the bags out of me that i was getting more and more tired of carrying around. God sure knew what he was doing when he reduced us in size after childbirth. Anyway, i'm sure this will be horrifying news to some, i don't know. It was very emotionally stressful being awake and hearing the cutting, a few times i felt pain and would have to get another local injection, she did give me a shot of valium which took the edge off somewhat. She had to cut pretty deep because i had quite a bit of my own breast tissue as i have gained quite a bit of weight (about 60 lbs) since getting the implants almost 10 yrs ago. Anyway she was digging around trying to find the implant, and when she did she decided it was small enought to try and remove "whole" without deflating it inside first. It was, as i had suspected, a textured McGan implant. The implant was stuck in a small area...near the valve. The dr. was able to remove it using her finger between the implant and my tissue. She probed for awhile trying to "get ahold" of it and when she did the suction force gave way and the implant ruptured on the way out of my body, spilling saline. The good news is that it was indeed saline, and there was no fungus or bacteria and no odor whatsoever. I guess i would be damn scared if it had turned out to be foul. She had much better luck with the left breast which she was able to forrage out "whole" She irrigated the right breast before sewing them both up. Thats it. Its done. I pray to God I will be fine. I am asking for all of your prayers that everything will heal properly and that i will not suffer because of the "spill." I feel very blessed that i had a seemingly "healthy" implant.I am happy its over, i just hope and pray it truly is .. OVER.my best to all of you,~kim

Yes i am on medicaid. However, i'm not sure why she didn't encourage

capsulectomy. Her thought was that it wasn't necessary in saline.

I actually got the feeling that she didn't " want " to do a

capsulectomy and i therefore wasn't confident having her do one on

me. If only that implant didn't break.
