Guest guest
thanks for the information on the hair loss. Has anyone here actually tried or used anything that works to stop it? I know i must seem obssessed with my hair(and I am ..LOL) BUT I just got tested again for thyroid and hormones..all neg. I am so beside myself. My bald spot in the back of my head is getting larger, and my hairloss is worse than ever !! I have been using Nioxin products for over 6 months to no avail. I have no weight gain(wow that is one out og the 100 symtpoms I have not experienced..knock on wood), so does not look like it could be my thyroid. I have done so many alternatives, and seen alternative Dr.s . I am thinking of going that route again...but low on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Maybe it is because of my immune system, or the fact that I run low grade fevers.Any ideas/answers, let me know. Wish I had an answer and I would not be so distraght about it....thanks all..dimonds68 good health to all ! xooxxxooxox
Guest guest
Dimonds, What was your TSH? (If you don't mind sharing?) I guess what I am thinking is that you may indeed be subclinically hypothyroid or even hyperthyroid, both of which can affect your hair. What I mean by subclinically is that even though your tests come out supposedly normal, you exhibit some of the signs of hypo- or hyper thyroidism. I think this is a huge problem in America, but alot of doctors are treating strictly by the test, and not by the patient. The result is that they tell you, well, your thyroid is normal, so you don't need to be treated! But that is not always the case. There is a huge difference in the range of normal TSH results. Anywhere between 0.30 to 5.00. Do you see how wide that is? I know personally, if I am anywhere over 1.00, I feel terrible. My goal is to be as close to that 0.30 as possible in order for me to feel good. If I tested at 4.5, a regular doctor would tell me, "You're normal! You don't need to be treated!" But he would be dead wrong! Of course, everyone is individual, and what is true for me may not be true for you, but it's just food for thought. The low grade fevers are something I would be concerned about....do you have any abnormal blood work at all?
