Guest guest
I had the same problem with Lexapro and Celexa. I switched to Effexor, but the problem did not change. On all three medications I added 400mg of Wellbutrin. It helped a little, but I was still far from normal. My Dr. is now trying Buspar which is used to counteract sexual side effects of SSRI's. I have tried otc stuff with mixed results. What has helped is l-arginine, tribulus teristis and yohimbe in large doses. Adding ginko and ginseng seems to help as well but again, it is nowhere near normal. I am wondering which is worse, depression or its cure. Guest guest
Rich, Thanks for the response. I agree, not sure what is worse. Stamina RX seems interesting but it also has large doses of yohimbe which the research I've read could be dangerous with dep/anxiety meds. would love to try it but I'm too nervous. What is Buspar? Plus the wellbutrin dose you took seems high. -- In Lexapro , rjd268@a... wrote: > I had the same problem with Lexapro and Celexa. I switched to Effexor, but the problem did not change. Guest guest
, Sorry for the delay. We were on vacation for a week and just returned last night. Yes, there has been much improvement, but I think it is because of a combination of things, not just the Buspar. I have been taking 60 mg of Busparin - generic Buspar - in two 30 mg doses at morning and night. I have also been using a combination of nutritional things I read about in a book called Viagra Alternative I think, and these have really helped. My wife and I had sex three times this week, and one time was twice within a 15 hr period! OK, here they are: L-arginine 500 mg 2x per day. Take especially before bed. Yohimbe Bark 500 mg 3x per day. Be careful with this, you can OD with too much. I did, causes chills, heart racing and peeing without stop. But, man, it makes yo HARD and HORNY! DHEA 50 mg 1x per day Tribulis Teristis 625 mg 2x per day. The Chinese herb combination called Better Man that you can get on-line. All these are available at health food stores plus much more. Ginkgo Biloba is helpful, as is zinc, Maca and Horny Goat weed, but I have found the above to be the most helpful. The other thing I have done is try to relax and get enough rest and exercise. I try not to stress out about not making it all the time. I enjoy being inside my wife for a long time, and she loves it. I try to think of this as about her and not about me. If I stop focusing on my lack of feeling and just focus on her, kissing and making her happy I can sometimes just come while seeing, hearing and feeling my wife getting pleasure. I think one more thing is my wife is very understanding and loving, and she tries to make me feel like I am still her hunk, no matter what. That helps a whole lot. If you have any more questions, please write. Rich
Guest guest
Rich, I just back from vacation as well. I appreciate the information. Question about the Yohimbe Bark, my research shows you can't mix SSRIs with this herb. Any concerns? Thanks, > , > > Sorry for the delay. Guest guest
I didn't have any problems with the erections but it does take an act of congress to finish. I have been on it for about 1.5 years, 10mg. Every time I try to cut down just a bit anxiety and pure OCD start up again. Guess I may be on it for life. Not a big deal I guess, but I wish they had a cheaper generic version. bear jj <bear_jj@...> wrote: whatever you do, do not go cold turkey off this medication. I did and it was awfull. My erections have become very unreliable and when I do get one, it takes an act of congress to cum. The flip side is that it brought my anxiety under control. i went from shaking hands, high blood pressure and serious weight loss back to normal in a few months. I'm hoping to come off the meds at the beginning of the year. Can any males in the group relate their sexual side effects? Also, does anyone have any experiences coming off this medication? Guest guest
Thank God for Viagra, that's all I know. The side effects have gotten progressively worse. It started as just inability to finish, but has gradually spread to erectile difficulties. I'm certainly glaid this drug has been covered by insurance. Hopefully I will be able to get off this med soon. The issues with work/divorce/etc have been resolved, so maybe I can get off the meds and then GET OFF, LOL. Guest guest
I've been on lexapro for about 5 weeks. I've too have noticed a substantial lack of sexual interest. Male here...so I'm not sure exactly what the drug does to men verse women sexually. I'm 40 not dead....what have other men done to adjust to this? Sexual Side effects Hi. New to the group. Looked over the past month or 2 of posts and I did not see anything on sexual side effects. I was on lexapro for about a month and went off because the sexual side effects were so bad. But it was just after I went off I started noticing be being more calm and not so nervous. SO...I am giving it a go for longer to see if they subside. I am lucky to not have any other major side effects...it has actually been an appetite suppressant for me as I have lost some weight. But I am married and my drive has pretty much diminished and I cannot seem to have an orgasm. Obviously it if continues I may try another med to see if any difference but I wanted to know if any of you had this side effect and it got better or went away after time? Thanks! ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Thank you for your responses. I was able to go back and research previous posts. I called my Doctor yesterday and she took me off Lexapro and back on Wellbutrin. I really appreciate your responses. Thanks~ ~ > > That is, if has the search feature fixed. Sigh. If you're experiencing sexual sides from this drug it's been my experience from years here and on the Celexa board that it does not go away as long as you're taking this drug. > > You say you just started...how long is that? If it's been more than a few weeks...for sure it's bound to not get better. There are ways to get around it. Change your med is one, add wellbutrin is another. Talk to your doc for sure about his. It won't be the first time he/she has heard of this. > > Barbara > > > sexual side effects > > > I just started Lexapro and can't orgasm. Will this go away?
