I am thirsty too. When I saw Cheney in Nov, he wanted me to be tested for

Diabetes Incipitis. My HMO was pretty clueless on how to test accurately

for this. Cheney told me that you restrict fluid intake at 4pm. until the

next day 8-9 am, Also to test for ADH (anti-diuretic hormone). I'll

let you know when I know more. I will have a phone consult in Dec

How much thirst is too much? Some of us function best on lots and lots

of fluids, especially when we're detoxing.

If you are concerned about your thirst, try increasing your salt intake

- salt on food, canned tomato juice with salt, dill pickles, anchovies,

whatever you can handle. This will help your tissues retain fluids.

Some doctors recommend using " lite salt " , which is a mixture of sodium

chloride and potassium chloride, to get a better electrolyte balance.

Or you can try Gookinaid, which is an electrolyte mixture.

But I'd also suggest you get a fasting glucose test, if you haven't in a

while. Increased thirst is one of the warning signs of diabetes, which

is nothing to mess with.

Gee Phil

I have the opposite problem.....I am NEVER thirsty and have to force

myself to drink anything. If I did not have to take so many pills, I

probably would not drink much of anything.

Phil asked " I am wondering if others are plagued with

this and what advice you have.

Annette's reply : Phil, I am also plagued with this

problem. I drink and drink and drink. My mouth feels

constantly dry and at times my whole body just gasps

for water.

The big downside is that my body then becomes

waterlogged and I can hear it " swish " as I walk. I

rarely pass water during the day but can spend the

whole night racing to the bathroom. Strange.

I tried the obvious things and it's still a mystery.

sorry, no advice.

do you have dry eyes as well? I do. Was told it could be autoimmune and even

sjogren's disease. Was tested and came back negative but there is

seronegative sjogren's as well. It is miserable.

cyndy, you are too funny with your " dangling the keys " image! Youre right

about being thirsty...i read you are supposed to drink 120 oz of water a day

in 2 sources....I think i will just fill 2 gallon jugs, keep them in the car

and make sure i finish them all by days end. ITs hard on this diet...it

seems you are constnatly eating/drinking or planning some log book thing. I

dont know how you guys did it. You must be awesome super women! I can only

dreeeeeammmmm.....!!!

I have been on a trial of 10mg Lexapro for depression. Aside from some

sleepiness (so I take my meds at night), the only other side effect

seems to be intense thirst.

Anyone else get that?

I have a really dry mouth and thus thirst from one of my meds, but I didn't know

which one, so maybe it's the Lexapro in combination with something else. I

didn't have that dry mouth before I started treatment for Hep C.
