Guest guest
Hi Kelli, It was a nice surprise to get your email but I am rather new at sprouting myslef. I too, love broccoli sprouts and they are all I have ever grown. I ordered seeds from Sprout People and followed their directions in a mason jar sprouter - it works!!!! I have found that I like them best on an american cheese sandwich with fresh tomato, mayo, salt and pepper. Good luck!!! I would like to hear from you again - maybe we can learn together!! See ya, Pat I'm new... > Hi! > I'm totally new to the magical world of sprouting and was hoping to > gather advice and suggestions from you 'experts.' > I just visited .com and feel ,well, overwhelmed! > I need some recommendations on how to start...the easiest, least > expensive way. Guest guest
Sprouts are truely interesting and magnificent things. All you really need to start is a glass jar, adjust the amount of seed relative to jar size - (maybe 2tbs in a quart jar) soak for 24 hrs rinsing 3 to 4 times during that period. Cover the jar with some screen cloth (whats in your screen door - preferably plastic) and drain leaving the seed in the jar. Invert the jar at about 45 degrees for air circulation and keep in a relatively warm place, rinsing at least 3 time a day. As the shoots develop place in sunlight or artificial light to green. In 4 to six days enjoy the harvest. When their the desired size, drain, place in plastic bag in the refrigerater, and enjoy. The should be good for a week or two - enjoy nelson gray I'm new... >Hi! >I'm totally new to the magical world of sprouting and was hoping to >gather advice and suggestions from you 'experts.' >I just visited .com and feel ,well, overwhelmed! >I need some recommendations on how to start...the easiest, least >expensive way. Guest guest
Hi Kay, and welcome to the group. It sounds like you are in a great possition to see major changes in your physique. I'm excited to see how you do. The shakes are just for convenience, so you do not have to use them. Real food is always the best alternative. What should you eat? The same as you would for the other meals. A portion of carb, a portion of protein, and leafy or low cal veggies added as often as possible. Right now I use one protein shake a day, and one bar a day (not the best thing, but I'm in school and have only 10 minutes between classes this session.) When I don't use those my day might look like this: 1st meal oatmeal, scrambled eggs (three whites, one hole) 2nd meal cottage cheese and an apple 3rd meal tuna (straight out of the can), salad, watermellon 4th meal grilled chicken, green beans, salad, sweet potatoe 5th meal tuna, 1/2 a banana 6th meal cottage cheese and an apple Since the meals are small, having six real meals a day is not a problem. I am trying to cut out all processed carbs (not even whole wheat products) since they are a problem for me, but you can use them on occassion. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Kay, I just started this past Monday. I am also a mother of two little ones, boys, is 2.5 and Connor is 1! They keep me busy. My husband and I are doing this together to get healthy. We are not wanting to lost any weight just tone and build and we want to eat healthier. His goal is also to quit smoking by the end of 12 weeks, yeah, I hope that works!!!!! My tip to you is to plan your day the night before as Bill writes in the book. It keeps you more organized and committed. Plan your workout and your meals. That has been a lifesaver. My husband and I did this program back in November and only lasted about 2 mos. as I didn't plan, and I had no recipes. This time I did my homework and it is going much better. We also work out in the am this time. Last time we did it at night and there was always a million reasons to not work out (just tonight), well we just faded out. But so far we have had a great week. I actually get about 2 hours to myself before the boys get up and I feel great! Good luck to you!! (Hope all of my babbling helped!!!) Kellie > > Hey Everyone! > > My name is Kay & I'm a mother of two little ones. I've been struggling with body image issues and trying to lean & tone myself for a year now. About this time last year I was 165 lbs and very unhappy. I'm at 119 lbs (at 5'3) right now and I really want to lose fat and gain lean muscle. I've been exercising & lifting wieght but I haven't been able to eat " right " . The Body For Life plan sounds really simple and has alot of proof that it works. I am starting my first week Monday Aug 12th. I was wondering if there was any hints or tips for the first week? What about those shakes, I don't want to spend money on them-what should I eat instead of them. Guest guest
Hi Kellie, I actually like lists and planning so that area will be a breeze for me Aww, I have a little one year old too. Nate turned 1 on July 24th. I have a 3 1/2 year old too, Mikey- he's one smart cookie let me tell you! That's neat that you started on Monday- we will be kinda close together on the 12 week program. Yeah! Good luck to both you and your husband! (I haven't got mine convinced quite yet- he really needs to lose 20 lbs of fat or more!) Hugs & thanks for the tips *Kay* cropwithkellie wrote:Hi Kay, I just started this past Monday. I am also a mother of two little ones, boys, is 2.5 and Connor is 1! They keep me busy. Guest guest
Sorry to post again, but Kay you are scaring me. My husband laughed because not only did I have to start on a Monday, but it had to be the first Monday of a month! Isn't that crazy???????? Guest guest
Kellie, That's awesome that they share the same b-day. Mikey's birthday is the 15th of March. Mine is the 25th of JUly (I pretty much shared my birthday with Nate)... We defiantly do need to keep in touch. How do you feel this week? Are you feeling any different? Stronger? I can't wait to start! I'm going to start making my food plans for the next week and this weekend I'm stocking up on the foods that are on the " list " in the book. I bought some protien powder at Walmart- I can't afford that myoplex stuff & I'm not sure if I want to deal with food 3 extra times a day. (breakfast, lunch & dinner will be food- the other three meals will be a shake)... at least for the first week or so. My husband still isn't into this. He's supportive of me but he doesn't want to try it out himself. He is going to try to eat 1 protien, 1 carb & 1 veggie for dinner but he doesn't want to exercise. He claims he has no time. He is pretty pressed for time and travels alot but that's no excuse. I'm getting pretty tired of him complaining about his gut. Hopefully these upcomming 12 weeks I am going to do will help alot and perhaps motovate him to exercise. We will see Hugs, *Kay* cropwithkellie wrote:Kay, My little Connor's birthday is on July 24th too!!!!!!!!!!!! And when is Mikey's birthday? is a year younger, but his birthday is December 18th. Guest guest
Hi Kay, We do have a lot in common! I feel great this week. Right now I am having a hard time doing the stairs UGH!!! But other than that my energy is good. Expect to be very hungry the first week, I have been constantly starving but it seems to be subsiding (just in time for free day). I still can't believe that I am rolling myself out of bed at 5:30am, but I love it once it is done. Like I said, I get time by myself now in the morning and my husband and I are actually eating breakfast together!!! Another good " snack " is the protein puddings and muffins. I also joined the BFL recipe club on and I go there often. I also bought Mrs. Bischwit's cookbook, you can connect to her website from the group and it is all BFL meals and snacks. I like the puddings and muffins because you can make them in bulk and they are good snacks for a few days! Try that. You sound like you are ready to go and let me tell you, my shorts are already looser. I don't think I've lost inches, I just think that my stomach is no longer bloated from eating CRAP!!! Talk to you soon, have a good weekend! My husband and I ordered a pizza at about 9:30pm last Sunday night before we started. We just had to binge one more time!!! Guest guest
I took my " before " pics last night (well, my husband did). I was soo bloated because he took me out to dinner... I can't wait until Tues. when I can find out my fat percentage so I can make another goal. How are you doing today- your quads still hurting? Sounds like you must have had a great workout! :-) I am roaring to get started... Monday is almost here!!! Guest guest
Good morning! I am doing better today. I got up and did my walk this morning for 20 mins. I must say it does start your day off right. Yesterday was free day and last night we had cheeseburgers, french fries(one of my favorite foods) and onion rings. I was so uncomfortable after we ate, I even had ice cream to eat and I couldn't. I guess what Bill says in the book is right about how when you eat crap on your free day you will feel terrible and boy did I. I doubt though that it will keep me from doing it to myself next Saturday ;o) Monday is almost here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Kelli, I had a cheesburger & fries last night too ;-) (isn't that weird?)- Hubby had a pork steak w/ bbq. Your going to be in your 2nd week tomorrow...yeah! I'm planning out my meals for the week today. I have to clean the house, it's pretty trashed. I'm really hoping that eating right and exercising consistly will help with my energy level. I've been pooped lately. I can't get myself to do anything. I did do 20 minutes of cardio yesterday (10 on the bike & 10 on the eliptical trainer) but I didn't eat right at all. Of course I don't start my 12 weeks until tomorrow so I'm not going to get all down about it. Talk to ya later! *Kay* cropwithkellie wrote:Good morning! I am doing better today. Guest guest
For me it was a slow process where I had to turn my back on what I allowed myself to be spoonfed. My first was fully vaccinated (no boosters), my second partially, and my last not vaccinated at all. I made the committment to nurse a minimum of two years to help keep them healthy, to follow a healthy diet when they took to solids. I also had to accept that I wanted them to get sick in order to build their immune system. We don't do any shunning of the sick person. It goes contrary to what we think, but fear of the disease is the key to why most vaccinate. When I started this journey I created favorite folders that had every disease, and then under it explanations of the prevalency and severity of the disease and who most often died versus got sick (like in the case of West Nile Virus where most people who get very ill are not children). I also included alternative treatments. > Hello, my name is , and I'm in Washington State. My husband and I are expecting our first baby soon, and I feel like I need to do more research on vaccinations. I've done some reading on the subject in the past, and we're pretty sure we don't want to vaccinate at all. I'd love to hear the viewpoints of others. Why have you all decided for or against vaccination, or why do you selectively vaccinate? > > >

Guest guest
One hundred Life Lift breaths a day is best, as far as I am concerned. You will get there, , I know you will!!! If I can do it, you can do it, and can do it, too. All of us can do 100 Life Lift breaths a day, and I know that for a fact!!! So, come on, everyone!!! Just keep huffing and puffing away all day every day!!!! Love always, Pat Re: I'm new... Hi , Welcome to the group !!! You will love-love-love the support and community here.
