Dear Ladies:

I had my explant on Wednesday and I am doing well. I went

today and got the drains removed and Dr. Melmed showed me

what my new breasts look like. I am very small and the top is

quite flattened but will hopefully improve with time. He told

me that I had very little breast tissue and he was concerned but I

look much better than he expected.

I'm feeling pretty well to have just had surgury so I'm hopeful

that this too will improve.

Hi Debbye -

Glad to hear you are doing well. I know it is shocking when you see

your " old " breasts for the first time. Trust that they do fill out

within a few weeks. I went to Dr. T today for my follow up and

compared the pre-op photos with how I look now - the same. I found

that it was also weird to touch soft breasts again - I was used to

them being like rocks on my chest.

I hope you have a speedy recovery. Please post about your

experience when you feel up to it. Wishing you my best thoughts.

Kristi

Lenya! It was soo excited to read your whole account of the explant - it is so thrilling, I am living vicariously through you!! I am not surprised you have your firbro symptoms still, I mean you are detoxing, even though Melmed may not believe in doing one's own detox, that is what your body is doing. Keep us posted - I am so happy for you and it was so helpful, those details you shared. Go Lenya!!!! freebindi <bindi@...> wrote: Hey Leyna, I am so glad you are feeling so energetic. I couldn't do much more than watch movies and sleep for two days. The pain will improve, but it may take some time to go away completely. But you're on the road now, no more

waiting! Bindi My explant Hi everyone! I'm still in Texas, but since this hotel has internet, I wanted to give everyone an update.Everything went GREAT! Dr. Melmed is

awesome! He was very thorough, and explained everything perfectly. He showed me a lot of "before" and "after" photos, and answered all my questions. He had a list of symptoms, and I had all of them, just like most of us do.The surgery was not bad at all-I could not believe how nice the staff was! The anesthesiologist came out and held my hand and kept stroking my hair and reassuring me, although I was really not nervous at all. They numbed my hand before they put the IV in, and that's all I remember! I honestly do not even remember waking up from surgery!I was taped up very tight when I woke up, but was not in pain at all. Dr. Melmed had given me anti-nausea medicine, a pain medication, Celebrex, and something relaxing for nerves in the IV. I was woozy and very comfortable, and in no pain at all when I woke up.The drains were kinda gross, but not too bad. He attached them on the sides of my

breasts, and I had two containers that drained blood. He offered me antibiotics, but I did not take them, as I always suffer from bad yeast infections when I take them. I only had to change the drains maybe 3 times total. My implants were not ruptured...but both were leaking badly. He said they were saturated in silicone, and he cleaned them off and gave them to me in labeled containers. He does not have my post operative reports yet, and said he will mail them to me.I have not had hardly any pain. When we got back to the hotel from the surgery, I wanted to go shopping, or down to the spa and walk on the treadmill! lolThe only pain I have felt is when I turned to the side when I was trying to sleep-it was a sort of sharp pain, and then I remembered I had just been explanted, so I laid back on my back to sleep. My Fibro is not gone-that's the bad news. My right side is still very painful-headache,

neck and shoulder pain, hip pain. He gave me Hydrocodone, which does not help at all. I have no pain at all from the surgery itself though.Dr. Melmed said to that I should be all back to normal in two years. He does not believe in detoxing though-he said that any leftover silicone will go out your urine....I'm not going to listen to that, and am going to buy detox stuff as soon as I can.I got my drains out today. That was by far, the worst part of the whole thing for me! Dr. Melmed pulled them out slowly, and then jerked them the rest of the way. I yelled like a baby, and there was a girl in the waiting room who was getting hers out tomorrow, and she got scared! lolThe good news is that my breasts look awesome!! I'm thrilled with them! I have a LOT of volume, and they are very perky looking!I did not want to look at them at first, but Dr. Melmed actually forced me to! I had told my husband that I

did not want him to see them until they had fluffed out, but Dr. Melmed INSISTED that he look at them-that kinda pissed me off that he would make him look after I said I didn't want him to, but at least they looked good!Other than the Fibro pain on my right side (he got everything out, so I don't know why I still hurt!), I feel wonderful-so light and free! And I still have a cleavage! I had brought 2 bras with me-a 34 and a 36...and I fit perfectly in the 36! It's actually kinda tight! My husband and I have gone out to eat a few times, we went shopping, and right after I got my drains out, we went through "Ripley's Believe it or not" and "The House of Wax".This has been more of a vacation than a surgery!!

Bindi, Hi! Yes, I had a lift...I wanted to go work out on the treadmill in the spa immediately when I woke up! I was going stir crazy from sitting/laying so much! Probably the reason I had a lot more energy than you was because my implants were not ruptured....wasn't yours though? Both of mine were leaking badly-Dr. Melmed said they were both saturated with silicone though. All I can say is that I am so thankful that I got them removed before they ruptured-I cannot imagine what the girls who have had ruptured implants must have went through, if I was in so much pain and misery just from mine leaking!!!!freebindi <bindi@...> wrote: Hey Leyna, I am so glad you are feeling so energetic. Leyna,

I'm glad that your surgery went well and that you're happy with your

results. You won't see overnight improvement from the Fibro, it

takes time. You have to drink tons of water now, and start eating

alot of veggies, organics if you can, and take the best care of

yourself ever. You probably didn't get sick overnight, and you

probably won't get better overnight, but at least now you've got a

chance with the implants gone.

Sis,

I totally agree with that statement, it took me 10 years to find out

is was the implants, I was told so many things by doctors during that

10 year period but never did anyone mention it might be the implants,

I stumbled on that myself. After hearing for years and then putting

the thought out of my head that only silicone was bad, They never

mentioned that they are all silicone, I was clueless, now everyday I

run into sombody who either has them and are sick and clueless as I

was or they know someone who is getting them. It seems this is a

test. I didn't know that I would be an advocate but I can't just keep

my mouth shut, I hate that you feel people on the verge of getting

implants still think that saline are safe. I don't want to talk

people out of something but again I can't just sit by when someone

brings up the subject. Does anyone remember where to get those free

cards made up with the support groups info? I have to keep writing

things down for people, it would be easier to hand them a card and

let them look and then decide for themselves.

Thank you to you all for your sweet words of encouragement,

Terri P
