Hi Pam,

I used Dr. Darrow for my explant, which was 9/24/03 and I was very pleased with him. He will not agree that implants are causing your illness but he won't discourage you from taking them out. He is very understanding and I called him several times prior to my surgery and he answered every question I had and calmed my fears about surgery. He also got my procedure covered by my health insurance due to my capsular contraction. If you want any more info or advice let me know I can call you or vice versa.

Pam,

I think you will be happy with him. I had 2 other horrible consults before I finally went to see him and I knew right away he was the right Dr. to operate on me. Good luck and let me know what you decide.

Barbara, I'm glad to hear that all went well with you and Dr.

Darrow. I had a good feeling when I talked to him. I just didn't

feel good after seeing my ps here. He was pretty much a jerk. No

compassion, no nothing. I would like to take a trip to Boston. My

mom's family all lives up there and it's been 13 years since I've

been there. One of my best friends just moved there a year ago and I

could see her too. I'm getting excited! I think I might go with

him...thank you again! Pam

Barbara, I'll definitely let you know. I just wish I could set up a

date right now. I have to wait until Monday because his secretary is

out of town! O well, I'll be able to get them out soon!! Yippee!!

I just thought of something...how do things look? My ps here said I

would be flat chested and saggy! but he would take them out if

that's what I wanted. Dr. Darrow said not to worry that he would

take care of making things look as good as possible. Let me know.

Thanks again!

Pam,

I look basically the same as prior to implant except on the side where I had the bad capsular contraction the nipple is a little dented in. He told me things would look about the same as prior to implant as long as I didnt have a baby or gain weight. I was flat before implant and now there is a little extra skin but not much. I didnt get a lift since I am so flat to begin with. But I dont have any regrets and I have not missed the implants one bit.

Pam,

I had drains for 6 days . He took the stiches and drains out on the 6th day. My operation which was bilateral capsulectomy took an hour and a half. I had to have my procedure done in a hospital because it was under my medical coverage. But if you are paying you can have it done in his operating room in the office or a hospital. I felt awful for about 2 weeks but then began getting a little stronger. The anesthesia really puts a toll on my body. But I think for about a month I had to limit my arm use. I just had my follow up with him a couple of weeks ago and he said I dont have to go back unless I need to. I also sent my implants to Canada to be analyzed and I am waiting for the report.

Pam,

Dr. Darrow has a book of pictures of his explant patients he can show you so you can get an idea of how things work. He should be back in the office by December 1st and it is worth the wait in my opinion. You can see in the photos that some women actually looked better after explant since they also had a lift. Don't worry! I was scared too and Dr. Darrow really put me at ease.

Liz, do you live in Mass? I live in Virginia. Let me know how long

of a recovery period you have. Not total recovery, but how long the

surgery takes, what happens after, how long before drains come out

and stitches come out...all the gory details!

Thanks again.
