Guest guest
It melted easily in my cup of hot cocoa, and I love the chocolate/coconut combination anyway, so that was cool for me. You're right, the oil might not work well in smoothies, but with coconut milk I would think it would work ok, and that has to have some of the oil in it, doesn't it? Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: naturalbeauty38 Sent: Sunday, November 09, 2003 2:28 PM Subject: Re: Oils and Thyroid I have no idea how anyone can eat that coconut oil, it is disgusting, I am sorry but the flavor is totally nasty, lol! I think that is great if you all can stand it, but I don't think I could bake or anything else with it, gross! I tried to put it in a smooth once and it just turned into little greaseball chunks, it was so gross I almost thought I would puke ha ha, so is there a secret to putting it into smoothies? It is so gross. I also read somewhere that it is totally not good for you, ha I have read this I swear, but I cannot remember where. It really is high in something isn't it like saturated fat maybe? Anyhow, I would love to know what to do with this jar of it that I have cause so far I have not found anything that makes this stuff palatable.I cannot imagine eating it by the spoonful, I mean I know when we are sick we try anything, but man I just don't feel I could do that one. I thank god I am not sick or in need of it, but I would like to use it for something.thanks
Guest guest
I know sweetie, I know you are right about the exercise and I was going to write you back, but I don't know what to say except I just have a heck of a time fitting in daily exercise! I never get everything done as it is, (and I have a stack of mail on my desk a foot high--I really should be going through that now....) Anyway, maybe you saw my post about finishing up with my liver cleanse this morning and I feel great! I definitely think I needed to move some stuff out of that sluggish liver of mine...and yes, exercise would make a huge difference. You are right. If only I could pay someone else to do my work for me, and clean my house...! Ya know I thought you mentioned something new you were taking? Maybe that is giving you the headaches? Maybe the change in your thyoid meds too? Anyhow I doubt your going through menopause yet. Peri menopause is possible, that happens about 5-10 years before meonpause so that is possible hell I could be there with ya on that one! Anyhow, you alreayd know what I am going to say, hee hee, work out girl, it is known for a fact that working out will ease some of those symptoms of menopause, also good for PMS too! Ok I will not preach to you about exercise right now, since I already sent ya a long email with regard to my feelings on working out, as if they are not known on this group. Guest guest
, Dr Mercola talks using the Carlson's fish oil as it is the freshest, and not on shelves for long periods. He discourages pill forms, as most pills are old and rancid, and that is what you were burbing up. I don’t have the burp problem with straight up Carlson's oil but did with all pills beforehand that I tired. Yuck! Yes, I think the oil of oregeno is in olive oil, but I take it in small drops, per day, so I guess its not near the amount what he wants. I know what you are talking about though...ew! ----- Original Message ----- From: naturalbeauty38 Sent: Monday, November 10, 2003 8:17 AM Subject: Re: Oils and Thyroid how do you take the fish oil without getting burps of it later on? I hate that one too, even the capsules, later on I burp them up and taste fish, I had to stop those too because I thought I was going to get really sick from that taste. I used to do the oil and then when it kept coming back to haunt me later on I tried the capsules and they did the same thing. I thought if I took it with food it would work better, but it did the same thing. Also isn't the oil of oregano mixed with olive oil?hugsCIn , "JOSEPH PALANCA" <juliejp61@m...> wrote:> Wow! that a lot of coconut oil girl! You go girl! I def think your combination of oils is perfect, and will be so healing for you. (thanks by the way- I forgot about primrose oils)> > I spread my throughout the day. If ido things by meals I can remember. Like coconut in the morning, followed by fish after lunch, and olive oil for dinner. I do the coconut oil in the morning (be careful girls some may need to go slow, I was having stomach cramps in the beginning and had to go slow, like a 1/4 teaspoon in the beginning. I looked into it and found that at first something in it can cause stomach upset or cramping until you get used to it-I will send the link) Either on my toast or even cook the eggs in it- or my the spoon (I had no other alternative, I rush so fast in the morning sometimes, I just did it once and realized it wasn't too bad) And if I can add another amount I will pan my chicken for dinner or veggies in it. > > Then I do fish oil after lunch, in some water. Then at dinner I have (just these two months) started doing the 1/4 cup olive oil with lemon and water, and bam like a shot take it down! I know it sounds crazy, but hey its working. Dr Merocla says when you think of thyroid- think of good fats/oils. They will replenish it. > Again, I will cut out the olive oil as my health improves and just have it on salads again. But I will always do the coconut oil and fish oil/capsles for the rest of my life. ( I hope) > The only other oil is oil of oregeno, but in drops.> Patty, that chocolate drink sounds yummy! I'm trying it tomorrow. Don't feel bad about falling off the wagon this summer, I did too for about a month, (when I was landscaping the yard) and felt like poop. Live and learn. We do so much anyhow.> Dr Mercola recommends the Carlson Fish oil, as it is fresh and does not go rancid. it is in oil form though, not pill. > How are feeling Patty these days? We are always talking about ourselves. How about you? Esp on those glyconutrinents? Any joint pain left? More energy? > Fill me in. But I think after reading this article I am going to give it a good go. I made some hot chocolate yesterday (I know, bad mama!) and put a huge dollop of coconut oil in it, and boy, was it yummy! I could do that pretty easily! I have tried doing the "in your mouth" thing, and that ain't happening again! Ha ha ha, gag city! , I can't believe you can do that! If I do the hot cocoa again, I will make it with carob powder and sucanat, which is all natural, and I think I could get some coconut oil every day that way. I could also make smoothies, even using coconut milk, that would be yummy too. > > I'm really glad to hear about your improvements ! That is awesome that you have improved on these oils. I have just not been paying attention to that, even falling off my EPO and fish oil supplements. I'm kinda disgusted with myself for having been so inattentive to all my healthy living this summer. It is finally catching up with me, and it really all started in July...remember when I was so worried about my mission trip? I felt worse for a few months up until I left and I wasn't sure why, thinking it had something to do with my dental appt. (And God did a miracle by letting me experience total health on my trip!) Now that I've been back, I need to kick it into high gear again, and pay attention to all this stuff once more, and I need to get back on those EPO and fish oil supplements, and for sure I am going to add the coconut oil and olive oil.> > Thanks so much for sharing that! So, do you think 1/4 cup of olive oil, 2 teaspoons of coconut oil, Evening Primrose Oil, and fish oil is a good combination? Do you spread it out through the day, or do you take it all at once? > Hugs,> Patty> ----- Original Message ----- > From: JOSEPH PALANCA > > Sent: Saturday, November 08, 2003 9:09 PM> Subject: Re: Oils and Thyroid> > > Patty, I have been on the Garden of Life coconut oil , about 2 teaspoons a day for about 3 months. I really went on it not for the thyroid thing, (I had read about it helping the thyroid though) but because I had heard/read it helped with candida and infection problems and other wonderful things like cleaning up! (in the Patient heal Thyself book)> And you know I was candida girl! Combined with progesterone, (after testing) and primal defense, girl the yeast is gone, and I am sweating and feeling great. You have to get used to the taste of cooking with it (my Italian husband hates it, need I say more?-MAMAs boy) So I either rub it on some toast with cinnamon, or do by the spoon. I also cook my chicken in it with some lemon, or oranges (mmmm) But by spoon- It literally melts in your mouth (its like lard) so its easier. I wasn't faithful for the last 3 months though. I kinda fell off last month for a few weeks, but went back every day this month again. > > Tell me if you go on it. Dr Mercola swears by oils, oils, oils. And I haven't gained any weight. And oh- my cholesterol dropped another 30 points in 5 months too, just got all the results back. (never had high chl until I had thyroid problem-I guess it is a stresshormone that increases with endocrine diseases too, esp being hypo) So it cant be bad!
