Guest guest
I sincerely hope this is the drug for you. That it does what you need it to. What most people don't realise is that often finding the 'right' drug or combination of drugs that works for *them* can often be a hit or miss and somewhat drawn out process. I couldn't take Celexa, the parent drug of Lexapro. It made a mess out of me. Effexor was like a miracle to me and after three years I weaned off and haven't had any problems since then. It's been over 6 months since I weaned off. Of course I was only ever on 75mg. Have you had any other evaluations done? Such as for bi-polar or other things like that? Is it possible there's more going on than simple depression? Simple meaning depression just on it's own.... Lex has had some spectacular successes. So I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Keep posting here. We want to know how you're getting along and posting can really help. You'll find that there are many people here just like you and that's such a relief! To know just how *not* alone you really are. If you're not feeling better in the next two weeks then you need to talk to your doctor. Maybe a dose increase will be the answer maybe not. Maybe adding an additional drug or changing drugs might be the answer. But only you and your doctor, working together, can know that. I can understand the brain clicking off in weird directions. It's strange and difficult to explain how that feels to someone that's not experienced it. I'm sooo sorry for your losses. That can certainly create a situation for anyone such as you describe happening to you. Barbara Is Ciprilex the Euro version of Lexapro? > > > Hi! Guest guest
I soooo appreciate your posting to me, Barbara. It was hard for me to write all I wrote down, wondering, who all is reading this? It's all so personal....... But I want help! I can't go on like this.... Well, one psychiatrist, a military doctor here (we're stationed here overseas in Germany with the US Army), had to refer me off of the military post because they simply don't have the resources here to get a diagnosis for me. Military personnel, esp those returning from Iraq, etc., take priority, naturally and fairly so. (I'm a family member, not active duty.) So anyway, my dr's best guesses are either bi-polar or post traumatic stress disorder (with one traumatic event piling on top of another). So now, it's off to " talk therapy " which will hopefully get us some answers as to what is making me want to simply " disappear " sometimes, like with the click of a switch. My " new " dr is thrilled that so far, ciprilax is working for me and there appear to be no side affects. YAH! Thank you, and I will continue to post :-) Barbara <bjarrett@...> wrote: I sincerely hope this is the drug for you. That it does what you need it to. Guest guest
My son's girlfriend is stationed in Germany on an army base. She's a civilian employee of the military. She's a speech pathologist for the military kids at their school. I'm glad the ciprilax seems to be working for you. Talk therapy can help a lot, too. Many psychologist/doctors want you to be on both medications and have talk therapy. Hang in there. The sun is shining at the end of the tunnel through the mountain. Guest guest
For most people joining a group like this for the first time, this is the first time they've ever really talked about their situations and it can be intimidating. It takes a *lot* of courage and sometimes desperation to post for the first time. Kudos to you for taking that big first step. :-) My 13 yr old daughter has PTSD. If that's what is going on my heart goes out to you. It's horrible to live with. The good news is PTSD is one of those that can be 'fixed' if that makes sense. It's not bi-polar which is a disorder based on physiologic problems. Body chemistry as it were. For bi-polar it's meds and therapy. And then people with extreme cases have a very rough road to travel. I'm glad you're doing your best to find out exactly what is going on with you. A difinitive diagnosis or as difinitive as possible is very important. It's what directs your treatment. Even now I still have days I want to disappear. ;-) I can relate to that. But I also have learned and *know* that the feeling(s) I may have today will be different tomorrow. That's something I think each one of us has to learn at a gut level, to really internalize it and some of us are not able to do that. Depression puts a veil over everything. That's where the meds and therapies come in. The meds allow us to feel better enough to work in therapy. What we learn in therapy and how to use the things we're taught is what may allow us to leave this well of darkness. Often for good. And again, some of us may need meds for life. That's just the way it is. Barbara Is Ciprilex the Euro version of Lexapro? > > > Hi! I'm new here and have been on and off several antidepressants for > nearly 10 years now. Guest guest
Wow, thank you sooo much for your post! I just learned quite a bit!!!! Guest guest
Thanks Colleen. Talk therapy makes me nervous...I guess it's getting used to the idea of answering lots of questions about myself?? I don't know what to expect....my american dr told me it can be pretty tough. I'll find out soon. So far, it's been more of a 'getting to know eachother' kind of thing, maybe to make me feel more comfortable with him. Oh well.....I just know I need to move ahead, and I'm glad there's hope! :-) MsTigerHawk <tigerhawksoars@...> wrote: My son's girlfriend is stationed in Germany on an army base.
