Welcome to the group!

Cipralex is Lexapro. It can take several weeks to several months to get the full

effect.

Why did your doc take you off Effexor?

Is Ciprilex the Euro version of Lexapro?

Hi! I'm new here and have been on and off several antidepressants for

nearly 10 years now. I currently live in Germany and my psychiatrist

here recently took me off of Effexor and put me on Ciprilex (10 mg, I

think). I've been taking it for about 6 weeks now and feel better but

not great. I'm trying to find out more about this drug and it's side

effects. I stumbled upon something online that made me think it's

similar to Lexapro, so I'm wondering if anyone here has any knowledge

of this?

Thanks!

HI Barbara, and thanks for your reply and confirmation. To answer

your question, Unfortunately, after suffering from severe postpartum

depression 3 years ago, and then losing family members dear to me

during the next 2 years, my brain seemed to click off in weird

directions. I attempted suicide twice, once while on Prozac and the

second time, a year later, while on Effexor. So long story short,

lithium was added to my daily regimen, but my new doctor " purged " me

of these two, for Cipralex. Nothing so far, however, has been worse

than Effexor withdrawals.......that was my 3rd attempt at suicide;

luckily, my family is staying with us to keep an eye on me so I

won't have to be hospitalized. Until recently, I have just been very

out of control....Effexor helped, for awhile, but I guess it wasn't

good enough, or what I need. I hope Cipralex is my answer......but

my hopes are not high. I'm wondering why I seem to be getting worse

as the years go by? My family says I'm not the " same person " I used

to be, ie., mainly happy and upbeat. I'm only 38!!!!

Anyway, sorry for rambling on. Basically, I guess I was one of those

people who have suicide thoughts/tendendies whilst on drugs such as

Prozac and Effexor. Please let Cipralex be different! *Sigh*
