new here please help!! Scared to take it

Hi Im new here.

my Dr. just prescribed lexapro and I am scared to take it. I

currently take xanax but that just isn't working anymore and my Dr

recommended the lexapro. I was just wondering if someone can give me

some encouragement to take it I know everyone reacts differently to

different medication. I never took something like this before, just

Xanax. My son takes celexa and it has been wonderful for him. I am

afraid of the insomnia as a side effect, but maybe if I feel better and

am not so anxious about it the medication will help it to go away. I

don't sleep now anyway so I guess why not give it a try, right? The

other side effects I can deal with I guess. I hate not sleeping i just

feel worse all day and exhausted. My Dr also said I can take the Xanax

with it, does anyone do that? If so how much/mg.? How long does it

take for the lexapro to work? I would like to be happy again for

Christmas, and also get a good night's sleep! Thanks so much,
