Subject: Trying to Stop Lexapro

I started Lexapro in August and I definitely became more mellow…

NOTHING bothered me anymore.  My husband and 9 yr old son call it

my " happy pill " and want me to keep taking it!  BUT, I just can't

take the sleepiness anymore… I switched to taking the 10 mg pill at

night/bedtime but I just have still been dragging through each day

and taking naps (I have NEVER been a napper).  I don't work, and

instead of being happier and getting more done around the house, I

have become a couch potato and have gained 10 pounds in 3 months.  I

want to get off this stuff!  After getting up and driving carpool, I

want to go back to bed!  How does anyone work a 40 hr week on this

drug?  I'd pass out at my desk.

The last 2 nights I've broken my pill in ½ and I still seem happy and

no mood swings/hormonal craziness have come back.  Today I wasn't

tired AT ALL in the afternoon and ran 4 errands straight.

I'm hoping to get off completely so I can lose this weight and not be

mood-swingy…

Has anyone GOTTEN OFF Lexipro and been " healed " from a life of stress

and mood swings.?  By the way, I'm 46 and going through menopause, so

a lot of my problems could be from that.

thx,

If Your feeling great on half, maybe 5mg is right for you. If your energy is up

and you don't go back to pre-Lexapro symptoms, why not try it for a while. One

your feeling better your weight may come off just because your doing more.

Whatever you decide, I would suggest talking to your doctor about it. There may

be things you haven't considered that would make the transition easier, and if

your symptoms return you may need to try something else.
