Hey ladies, I went to my gyn who - believe it or not - suggested I

have the test for mycoplasmas over a year ago. One of his patients

had brought in some info to him and he found a place in California

that does the testing. But, I thought he was nuts at the time. My

sister had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and she had the test

done. Hers was negative, had it been positive, I would have gone

ahead with it. I didn't know then what I know now about the implants

and the more likely it is for me to have mycos than her. Is there

more than one place that does the test now? Does anyone know what

the cost is? I want to get it done before I get the implants out if

possible.

Weird coincidence though...I had my implants done in 8/99 and my

sister had lipo a couple years later - by the same doctor, same

surgery center, same nurse! She was diagnosed with fibro around the

same time I was. Anyone think there may be a possibility of a link?

She is very heavy though - she's 5'2 " and over 250. Her pain is in

her back and lower - hips, knees, ankles...she never had pain in the

upper 2 quadrants. Fibro is supposed to be the diagnosis only when

all 4 quadrants are affected, I thought. I'm no doctor, but I don't

think she has it. She also had a gastric bypass (several of them)

and has some foreign bodies inside of her (not sure what all besides

staples). But those surgeries were done at least 10 years ago.

Thanks...God bless...Pam

Hi Pam,

About your sister's fibro....after having all of these problems with

saline implants...I'm skeptical of ALL elective procedures. I mean,

how much research has truly been done concerning lipo? If breast

implants can cause autoimmune diseases, why couldn't another

procedure cause something else. I just worry about lipo because

surgeons aggressively move the suction in and out of your

skin....when I saw the procedure on t.v. it made me concerned

because I thought it was a much more precise procedure. In reality,

they just suck and suck....what really happens while they are in

there? Too, maybe they cause cells to open up, which invites

bacteria in, which could trigger some type of symptom/disease if a

person is already susceptible? I don't know.

I wish you and your sister the best!
