Pam,

Dr. Darrow is leaving my drains in for 5 days. I'm dreading that more than the surgery itself. I hate the idea of drains, but better safe than sorry.

Iggy, I'm very happy for you! You're getting the best doctor you

possibly could have - according to most women on this site. I have

very limited funds, no job (out on disability - without pay!), and a

non-supportive husband. So, the trip to Mass will save me not only

airfare, hotel and food but a substantial amount on the surgery

itself. I'll be able to afford a lift if I need one! My mom's

entire family is up there and I have wanted to make a trip every year

for the last 13 but I put it off for one reason or the other. It's

about a 9 or 10 hour drive (11 or 12 if my dad drives the whole way!)

from here to Mass. How far is it to Ohio for you?

Dr. Darrow has explanted at least 2 of the girls on this site (a 3rd

today) and they've been happy with him. I also went to some internet

sites that talk about his work and I feel quite confident that he

will do a good job on me.

You said you started getting sick 6 months after getting the

implants? And that you've had them 4 years? When did you get them?

I got mine in August 1999. I first noticed fatigue and thought it

was just because I was recovering from surgery. Then I blamed it on

my commute to work but it didn't go away over the weekends. Then I

got a totally incapacitating virus?? At least that's what I thought

it was. I was in bed for 3 days and couldn't get up for nothing.

I'll never forget it because I had gone on a business trip and had my

boss' car and couldn't get it back to her! (they called her " the

intimidator " " the enforcer " " Atilla the Hun " - you get my drift...)

She was ticked off to say the least. Everyone was terrified of her,

but me. I spoke up and was persistent and she liked that. I know

deep down she cared about me, but that didn't stop her from firing me

(after being with the company for 14 1/2 years!)

I don't know if you read what I wrote the other day about my visit

with my gyn, but he and I looked back through my records to 1999 and

that's also where the s**t hit the fan. First the fatigue, then

the " virus " , then joint pain and swelling, then muscle fatigue and

pain, then pelvic pain that lead me to have a hysterectomy and 4

subsequent surgeries over the following 1 1/2 years for what we

thought was endometriosis related adhesions. My insides were

literally stuck together in the lower left quadrant from front to

back with huge gobs of adhesions (some on the right, but not as

bad). My gyn now feels that it was all related to the immune

reaction to the implants. He believes that endo. is an immune

reaction regardless of whether a person has implants, so with

implants on top of an already vulnerable person, you're playing with

fire. He wants me to keep my research handy so that when he has a

patient who presents with the same symptoms, he can give her my name

and number. He takes me seriously and believes in me. That's a

rareity as I'm sure you already know. He prayed for me at the end of

my visit and I give you my word, I got chills and I heard the

words " you will be healed, it's time " . I don't know if you're a

believer, but I am. I haven't known why I'm sick until now. People

say, why me? But I'm going to start saying why not me? I wouldn't

wish this illness on anyone else and I truly believe that God allowed

me to go through this because I will be a voice for those who are

suffering here in my area and who knows, maybe the world!

I've struggled over the last few years with what my purpose in life

is. I think I found it. Because of the brave women who have gone

before me - EVERYONE ON THIS SITE and others like it. I'm new here!

I've only just found you all maybe 2 weeks ago - or 3? I'm losing

track!

I came here sick, discouraged, in despair, wanting to die, without

much hope, and you all have given me the spark I needed to do what

God wants me to do. I'm so thankful for all of you and I pray for

you every day and for those that are to come and find what I found

here!

Love you guys! ......Pam

Pam,

This is just awesome, wonderful insight from you about what you've gone through. I'm ecstatic for you that you've found peace in this situation, knowing that God is in control and able to use each and every trial for good. Many of us have found that to be true in our lives, and it is actually comforting to know that God has been there for us all along--we just needed to see Him with spiritual eyes!

What a blessing to have a doctor who will pray for you, and confirm what we've known to be true about our implants. What a testimony you have.

I'm excited for you that this has all worked out for you with your family, and that you have some great support now. Isn't it amazing how things all work out?

Wishing you the best, and so thankful that you've found the answers you needed!

Hugs,

Patty

Pam,

I had the highest grade capsular contraction and I never had shrp shooting pains. I really didn't even know I had it at 1st because I always felt discomfort in both my breasts since implantation 8 yrs ago . Thank God you will be rid of those implants soon!

Patty, I couldn't have done it without you! I know I still have a

long road ahead, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

You know, up to this point I haven't really had any breast pain, but

the last 2 days, I have had sharp pulsing pain in both of them where

the implants are. Does that mean I'm getting capsular contracture?

That scares me!
