Hi,

I have been taking lexapro 10mg for years now. I decided I wanted to

try life without it so I just stopped taking it about 2 weeks ago.

Well last week I started getting this really weird shock like

sensation that started in my chest and went up to my head. It was

like I was getting this little jolt of electric shock or something.

Believe me I know how strange this sounds but that's how it felt.

So when I narrowed down that the only change I had made was going off

the lexapro I started taking it again Sunday and I haven't had not one

shock like sensation in two days now.

So, has anyone else possibly had any symptoms like what I have

described? If so I would love to hear about it so I won't feel like a

complete freak-lol.

Rule #1: Never quit a SSRI cold turkey. What you're decsribing is called " brain

zaps " and is a common withdrawal symptom when one goes cold turkey. You need to

wean off of Lex very slowly. It can take a few months. It varies for each

person.

Thank you so much for responding to my email and giving me a name for what I

experienced. I really thought I was losing my mind it was just so strange.

Needless to say, I won't do that again and found for other reasons I need to

be back on the lexapro.

Thanks again!
