Guest guest
They discussed implanting children both ears at the same time at the meeting last night, sort of leaving me thinking that we have a " good " ear and a " bad " ear? Does anyone know, do we all have that " good " ear, " bad " ear? If implanted bilaterally at the same time, is one ear always better than the other? Two people recently told me that they hear lows well in one ear, and highs well in the other. Is it like this with normal hearing, good lows in one ear and good highs in the other? Is that why headphones are labeled " left " and " right " ? I think I recall my husband telling me that's why it's important to put the headphone labeled " left " on the left ear, and the side labeled " right " on the right ear. I think he said that the left side of headphones are for BASS or drums. I know that the lows tones are deep inside the cochlea where sometimes the array doesn't reach, thus some residual lows may be preserved? You see, my good lows are in my left unimplanted ear, maybe that's where we naturally hear lows tones, or bass best? (Thinking of the headphones). I wonder if anyone has residual HIGHS, ever????? I guess that's a very stupid question??? lol June normal hearing until age 10 (meningitis) mild progressive loss until age 40: AB's Clarion 1.2 implanted 1/97 in right ear pending ci selection for second implant, surgery date set for 8/29 for left ear
