Working after surgery

Big day for me....I'll be calling my doctor today to tell him I want

to proceed with getting the CI. The strange thing is...I'm less

concerned about the surgery than I am about my own patience and

frustration level learning to hear again.

My doctor says physically I could be back to work within a few days

after the implantation. However, he warned that many patients do

become exhausted easily even before activation so some choose to stay

out of work longer. He also suggested that after activation that I

would need to pace myself due to the tiresome process of learning to

hear all over again.

I was wondering how much time people have taken off from work after

having the implant done. I assume I'll be taking time off but not

sure how much time to tell my employer. Luckily my job may be

flexible enough to work 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 at home for a

period of time.

I anticipate that if I'm out for a period of time that I'll be able

to utilize my long term disability coverage(Been paying for it for

years, it'd be nice to get some use out of it!!)

Appreciate any input.

Larry
