Guest guest
Hi , What a bummer that your friends and family won't allow you time to try to hear with the implant. Some still think it's like a hearing aid, you put it on, you hear. Not aware that there is a learning curve and the ony way to learn to use the phone is to USE the phone. One thing that has worked with me when people are impatient is to say, VERY SARCASTICALLY, " I realize this is a burden for you to have to repeat yourself or rephrase yourself until I understand " ....BUT I HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS. I've been known to shout the last part. I live alone, so nobody around to hand the phone to when I can't understand. I have told people to speak slower, or not as loud, because loud only distorts the voice. I rarely use the telecoil. There should be some phone practice lessons in your Hearing and Way Beyond program you got with the N5, if you have the N5.
